Here are 5 ways to identify autism in your child: 1. Delayed social development: Your child may not respond to their name, avoid eye contact, or have difficulty understanding social cues. 2. Repetitive behaviors: They might engage in repetitive movements, such as flapping their hands or rocking their body, or have strong fixations on certain objects or activities. 3. Communication challenges: Your child may not talk as much as other children, use echolalia (repeating words or phrases), or struggle to understand language. 4. Sensory sensitivities: They may be overly sensitive or insensitive to sounds, touch, light, or smells. 5. Difficulty with transitions: Your child might become upset when routines change or struggle with new experiences. If you notice any of these signs in your child, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation. Early diagnosis and intervention can make a significant difference in the lives of children with autism. #autism #signsandsymptoms #AutismAwareness #autismawarenessandacceptance #INDEVNetwork #inclusiveeducation #sensitisation #disabilityawareness

Understanding Autistic Shutdowns: A Guide to Recognition and Support* Autistic shutdown is a vital coping mechanism for individuals with autism, allowing them to temporarily disconnect from overwhelming situations and regain control. Imagine a 10-year-old girl, Emma, who loves playing with her friends, but during a loud and chaotic school assembly, she feels her senses overwhelmed. The noise, lights, and crowds become too much for her, and she suddenly becomes quiet, withdrawn, and still, disconnecting from the world around her. This is Emma's autistic shutdown. When this happens, individuals may appear unresponsive, block out sensory inputs, and lose access to skills they normally possess. They may also experience physical symptoms like headaches or muscle tension. It's crucial to recognize the signs and provide a supportive environment, offering a calm space, reducing sensory inputs, and waiting patiently for them to re-engage. By understanding autistic shutdowns, we can create a more inclusive and compassionate environment for individuals with autism. - #AutisticShutdown - #AutismAwareness - #AutismAcceptance - #AutismSupport - #MentalHealthMatters - #SensoryOverload - #AutismCopingMechanisms - #DisabilitySupport - #Neurodiversity - #AutismUnderstanding

1 in 36 Today marks the beginning of Autism Awareness Month. 1 in 36 children are currently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. This month, I plan on sharing my best tips about addressing the ROOT causes of behavior issues, specifically in individuals with autism. My work focuses on ruling out medical issues before beginning services with all individuals I work with. Underlying medical issues continue to go unrecognized and untreated, causing behavior issues. My mission is to tell as many people as possible about using holistic approaches to treat autism. This process includes asking detailed questions about the person's birth process (c-section vs. vaginal, short or long birth, traumatic birth, etc.), their medical history, developmental history, and their eating, sleeping, bowel, and nutrition habits (and so much more!). The answers to these questions give amazing clues about hidden medical issues causing the behavior. Knowing what questions to ask before beginning treatment changes the entire intervention and referral process trajectory. If you'd like more information on my process and the image in this post, I am happy to share it, just send me a DM. #entrepreneur #parenting #innovation #strategy #creativity
