Our TEHD software Tribo-X is used in the research project “Prediction of wear with multi-scale and multi-physics approaches” of the Research Association for Drive Technology e.V. In the project, an interdisciplinary team consisting of mechanical engineers, surface analysts and molecular dynamics experts is developing a new type of wear calculation method from the atomic to the macroscopic level. The aim is to be able to better predict the wear development of rolling contacts in the future. For the axial cylindrical roller #bearing considered in the project, the coupling of the shaft washer/roller and housing washer/roller contacts takes place via a force or moment equilibrium. Different boundary conditions can be specified for both contacts. This allows different friction, temperature and wear conditions in the contacts to be calculated. #automotiveindustry #engineering #development #simulation #lubrication #tribology

I’m proud to announce that scientific paper, "A kinematics-based single-actuator setup for constant-curvature bending tests in extremely large deformations", co-authored by Claudio Boni and me, has just been published in Extreme Mechanics Letters! In this study, we present an innovative design for a "clamp bending test" in extremely large deformations, that can be used for the mechanical characterization of thin glass. Our approach features a mechanical/kinematic interconnection between translation and rotation, enabling the execution of a clamp bending test by controlling just one degree of freedom, i.e., using only one actuator! https://lnkd.in/d6g4EG6J #thinglass #experimentaltest #clampbending #kinematics
