❄️ 🛷 Happy holidays! One of the biggest challenges faced by the North Pole's team of engineers was redesigning the mounting hardware for the candy-cane rockets on Santa's sleigh. Guest blogger Winter Frost sheds light on how simulation helped lead to a swift resolution:

For the sciencey folks: I recently found and posted this short video of Dr. John Williamson explaining how to understand 4-dimensional spacetime: https://lnkd.in/gdBEkBbP #physics #spacetime #quantummechanics

An interesting video about how the German V2 rockets evolved into their well known shape due to the aerodynamics research done in the 1930s. Interesting to see the supersonic wind tunnels and instrumentation used in Peenemünde. https://lnkd.in/erw6vTNT

This was the simulation of the Mjölnir rocket I made for the MATLAB-AESIR collaboration event, complete with thrust-forces, lift and drag. Currently working on a better aerodynamics model to better approximate how rockets fly in reality

NO, it's not a White Elephant wrapped gift, it's a rocket. The story unfolded during Rocket Lab's annual rocket challenge where we get together in groups of IT, Avionics, Space System, Engineering, Security etc. folks to make a model rocket with supplies like cardboard box, gift wrapper, bamboo skewers, glue sticks/gun, scissors and one single rocket fuel cartridge in ~3 hours. The rocket with longest ground flight length wins. We called our the "Pie Rocket" (slight deviation from the Star Wars spaceship design that we started with 😃) supported on two sledges. It worked but we did not win. This is one of the best experiences at Rocket Lab where everybody gets to contribute to a mission - no idea is small idea, literally. #annualrocketchallenge24

🚀 Graveyard orbit for cislunar debris? Or celestial slingshot dilemma? 🌌 Does the three-body problem turn the term "graveyard orbit" into a bit of a misnomer? Earth, Moon, and Sun often eject into heliocentric space but sometimes slingshot back toward GEO. So, is a Cislunar "graveyard orbit" really a solution—or just a Cislunar Pinball Machine? Thoughts? https://lnkd.in/dA2Nv2QD
