Back from a long weekend in sunny Weymouth ☀️ Rosie & Rusty loved splashing and running free with other dogs on the beach ❤️ I can’t believe this is my 10th week at VoCoVo 🥳 Time flies when you’re having fun! 4 Top things I have learned or achieved in my first 10 weeks here 1. I’ve loved meeting people across the business and experiencing that what you see and hear from people in the business about our values and culture, our successes, challenges etc during the hiring process is very much accurate! 2. VoCoVo really is the most powerful voice in retail. No one does what we do or how we do it. 3. I’ve made my first 2 hires and one of those is for someone to join my team in Talent Acquisition! 🥳 lots of interviews ongoing for roles across the business too. 4. It’s important to build on stone and not sand - a great phrase I heard from our Co - CEO Beth Worrall. For me personally, coming in to build out VoCoVo’s talent acquisition function is such an exciting thing to do, it’s important to spend time focusing on key elements and processes, ensuring we have a solid foundation set for us to continue to build on for long term success and sustainability 🚀✨ Bring on the rest of this journey! #vocovo #hiring #retailcomms #retailtech #talentaqusition

Doesn’t everyone open a bottle of Dom when they start at Deel? 🍾🥂 3yrs ago today I started one of the most rewarding journeys of my career! - Alex Bouaziz said in my interview “I already have sales and CS I don’t like the idea of another sales team” … me - “well you can keep debating it or give me a chance! No mistake that cannot be fixed. So if it doesn’t work put me somewhere else or fire me. But I do NOT fail” - So, I became the founding member of Sales Expansion (now known as Global Workforce Consultants) - The team is now global with 200ppl+ - My team has never missed quota (despite ever growing goals from my partner in RevOps Austin Cook Kiessig 😉) - We now sell 10+ products - Amount I have learned cannot be measured - My leadership pushes me and empowers me regularly Chris Lee Shuo Wang - Ever grateful for my friend and mentor Greg Lazarus for helping me get here! Best yet… I’m still hiring for both a manager and individual reps! Deel is a generational company with far more to accomplish! So, my journey has only just begun! Huge thanks to Gideon, Jared, and Jason for adding your expertise, panache, and passion to our sales function! You could have worked anywhere, but you chose Goodlawyer. We are lucky to have you. I really mean that. But this post is about all the OTHER applicants 🌟 I was overwhelmed by the amount of interest we got. The application process at Goodlawyer isn’t easy. There’s a screening process, then a skill interview, then a skill test, then a culture interview, then we check references. Some applicants went through this entire process twice (!) because they had the potential to fill multiple roles. There were so many talented, hardworking people who applied that we could have filled a dozen of roles. We appreciate your interest and your effort. Every minute of it. I sincerely hope we get to work together some day. If anyone reading this post is looking for sales talent, let me know. I'd be happy to connect you to some phenomenal people. My first sales job was at Interwoven, the fastest growing software company in Silicon Valley at the time. I wasn’t actually looking for a job. But I bumped into a friend at a Giants game who talked me into applying because he would get a $3K referral bonus. My title was “Corporate Sales Rep.” I was cold calling, cold emailing, and faxing (yup, circa 2000). I loved it: the energy, my peers, the mentorship, and just the chance to be part of a team professionally. I learned some valuable lessons at this first job: 1. The more work you do, the better off you’ll be. 2. Being prepared, having a system, and being organized makes you a little bit better than everyone else. 3. Making connections with people is more than just asking about the weather in their city. For others who are just starting out, or are in the midst of their own professional journey, I’ve found the most impactful opportunities often come from the most unexpected places. We don't have middle mangers at The Lab | Road Trip, and our C-Level is just two people. Our sales team is three. Our admin team is one. Our HR team is one. Everyone else is trying to set production records, all day, everyday. 47 people making prerolls. 3 people making sales. 4 people doing the rest. We don't have a marketing department. We don't have facility, shift, or general managers. We have strong SOPS. We have fair compensation. We have a team of hustlers. We have centralized our goals and decentralized decision making. We have a culture of pride and individual ownership. Yes, this is an experiment. No, I'm not 100% sure where it will go. Nevertheless, I am convinced that the right people, compensated fairly, can and will achieve goals and set records again and again if: A) company goals are public and their progress is tracked publicly, and B) determining the manner in which the goals are achieved is a shared endeavor amongst all staff.
