Many wonder whether IsoBoard Thermal Insulation disrupts the function of weeping holes in cavity walls. IsoBoard doesn't impede the function of the weeping holes. There is still a residual cavity of 20 mm between the board and the outer leaf, and, providing this is cleaned adequately during construction, is sufficient to prevent moisture bridging the cavity. The board is also effectively waterproof, so any moisture within the cavity will not transfer across the board. It's worth noting that we've been supplying IsoBoard for cavity wall thermal solutions since 1995, and it is particularly popular in the Western Cape, where cold, wet winters are common. To our knowledge, there has never been a moisture problem attributable to the installation of IsoBoard within cavity walls. The key factor is maintaining a clean cavity during construction to prevent potential moisture bridges.
