In order to successfully develop young people, you need someone to take responsibility for them. Will doesn't just "accept" that he has to take responsibility for the performance of our apprentices, he WANTS it! If you don't have someone ready to back young people and wear their mistakes and inexperience, then your apprenticeship recruitment will likely fail. If you do, then you are one step closer than the rest of your competitors in building a winning team of young superstars. Join the waiting list for The Apprentice Accelerator before 30th November and make the most of the wonderful opportunity to bring young, bright apprentices into your firm. Link in comments

To uni or to apprenticeship 🤔 £££ or the university experience 🤔🤔 When I tell you I've seen this picture EVERYWHERE. I mean it. The choice isn’t as simple as it seems I’ll break down what could be the biggest decision of your career 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 → A broader academic experience → A vibrant social life and the chance to live independently → Less structure and breaks → Comes with tuition fees and potential student debt → Your degree alone won’t prepare you for the workplace 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 → Earn while you learn → Fast-track to employment → Build a network of professionals within your sector → Less academic depth, more hands on → Limited social time So there are pros and cons to both. How do you decide what's right for you? Start by asking yourself these questions 👇🏾 ⮑ Do you prefer more structure or less? ⮑ Are you exploring my career options right now or do you know what you want? ⮑ Are you prepared for a competitive application process for an apprenticeship? ⮑ Am I keen to travel, join societies or take part in campus life at university? ⮑ Do you want to network and gain industry experience early through an apprenticeship? There is no right or wrong answer to any of these questions. These are questions that you have to ask yourself though and the decision can’t be made for you. It’s important to separate your own thinking to what other people expect of you. In the end, you’re the one doing the degree/apprenticeship. Don’t do it because LinkedIn, friends, family tell you to. Do it because 𝘆𝗼𝘂 want to.

Ashini Shashidaran thanks for this post and the further discussion. I have been communicating these pretty important choices to school students as a STEM Ambassador, and although it is difficult to be sure about renumeration potential, given that different industries pay differently, the £100K estimate for an apprentice four years from now is certainly realistic in my chosen niche (and therefore skills shortage) area of technology - much, much more than that in fact in the USA, assuming that employers there value experience over a fresh degree and immigration rules allow "work permit" documentation to be issued for roles that contribute to their economy. The feedback I get from students is that the apprenticeship route is favoured by the majority, despite parental pressure for the traditional route that they followed (without the current debt model). I understand this is already recognised in the "smart" universities that now offer apprenticeship courses up to masters equivalent. Of course, it is possible to follow both paths in time. Starting with the debt free apprenticeship option to get a career established, the choice of completing a degree in a traditional university setting never goes away, and neither does the further route into research, PhDs etc.
