So here we are …with the Euro 2024 Final a few days away and England in position to break the ’58 years of hurt’ if they come out on top. With impromptu Sunday barbecues and get togethers being planned and people working out their journeys to Berlin by any remaining route available just to soak up the atmosphere, it really is an incredible once in a lifetime experience for the country and for manager Gareth Southgate and this England squad I am privileged to spend time, work with and support our people managers at Investigo and BioTalent and find myself consistently drawing parallels with the world of sport when looking for great examples of management and leadership. Now, whatever your opinion of his management of the current team, I was interested to learn that Southgate revealed back in 2021 that his three non-negotiables are respect, trust and authenticity. He said ‘Respect is huge and probably covers a lot of the areas really because it's not just respect for me, it's respect for everybody, the team ethos, the lady on reception, your teammate..' On the subject of trust he said ‘there's got to be an agreed integrity to the way we work.’ And on authenticity, I am sure we can agree he is always honest with the public, often explains his way of thinking whenever possible and is a fantastic role model to his team who are also representing themselves with honesty, humility and integrity in post-match interviews. So, I’m sold….as a manager if you can strive to build respect and trust and be authentic in the process, this is a winning formula. First of all…England are through to the Euros final!! What do you think-are they going to win it?! Fingers crossed, hopefully Spain have played their best football and England can play to their full potential and win it🏆!! Though it’s been pretty painful watching them at times, they’ve proved that it hasn’t mattered! Sometimes, the journey to your dreams and success isn’t pretty. Whatever you think of Southgate’s tactics, he’s brought unity to players from different clubs, which includes having respect for each other and has brought resilience and strength of character. I believe there’s definitely a difference in mindset now. My journey with Back 2 Forward 🎬hasn’t been pretty, there have been many challenges and obstacles along the way, including losing my mum to cancer and lots of other things. Many people will doubt you, some will laugh at you, thinking what the heck are you doing! However, that’s the beauty, we’re all different and we should celebrate that, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but what’s most important is having your own self worth, belief and never doubt your dreams or yourself. Without unwavering belief and hard work, dedication, commitment, hunger, desire and some skill you can’t achieve anything! I changed my mindset a long time ago and that’s what my journey of resilience and strength of character making Back 2 Forward has taught me! There will never be another film like it, this is only the beginning… Hopefully, England win it, but the reality is they have gone further than any England team in the Euros, ever! Win or lose, I believe their success is on its way… Success requires dedication and a positive mindset. Excited for what lies ahead! Open to acting opportunities and collaborations. After last nights performance - this couldn't be more of a reality statement? Scrapping to get the result you need with a team full of superstars - sitting there thinking how can this be? We have to be winning comfortably - should be a breeze to get the result we need. BUT from observation, a couple of tired legs (fatigue), team members still playing in positions that are not suitable for them (superstars can't be superstars at everything), struggle to get the momentum together (starts causing frustration) and then thinking a win's a win but really going in to the next day is there going to be much of a change? This is what happens in businesses up and down the country - important decisions go a miss, bung top performers together and expect the best results and then scratch your head when it only just works. Did you attend the Business Aviation Ireland 🇮🇪 Conference? The #IGBAA conference at the world famous Adare Manor is one event in the aviation Calendar you must attend. Ireland is a great EU choice for Business and Business Aviation, a Gateway to Europe and with US 🇺🇸 pre clearance, a valuable bridge to the Americas. I covered the favourable taxes, corp tax #capitalallowances #employer taxes and double tax treaties and a superb registry. Also I covered Ireland exceling as an aircraft financing and leasing hub on the panel. Most importantly though and to be underlined is the Human element : Ireland has high digital skills, education, a young enthusiastic work force, a neutral, stable political environment with excellent growth prospects, strong banking and of course English language and common law in Europe. 🛳 Attending the MCN Members' Meeting in Bremen was an insightful experience! 🌟 I had the opportunity to gain exciting insights into the Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland (MCN) activities and current challenges. My key takeaways from the event include: 1️⃣ MCN is part of the ResC4EU initiative, aiming to create resilient international supply chains in Europe and strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises in the maritime industry. 2️⃣ Ship efficiency and fuels are among the industry's biggest challenges, and MCN is developing guidelines to support decision-makers. 3️⃣ Recruitment of talents is essential for the industry, and MCN serves as a platform for exchanging with recruitment experts to effectively target young talents. 4️⃣ As part of their current strategy, MCN consolidates and enhances its efforts to offer members valuable exchange and guidance on technological and digital transformation.
