Yes, we are seeing more public displays of emotional outbursts (as well as bullying). These moments often show deep feelings and frustrations that people need to express. While they can be disruptive, they remind us of our shared humanity and the importance of mental health awareness. It's important to view these situations without judgment. I like to use the iceberg metaphor to help shift my perspective. Just like an iceberg, much of what people feel lies below the surface, hidden from view. Understanding this can help us approach these situations with more empathy and compassion. #MOEschoolcounsellors #workinginshadow https://lnkd.in/g3GwZf3g

https://lnkd.in/gFfgDBEr Research from the field of narrative psychology shows a link between narratives and well-being. 1 Exploring personal stories, reflecting on them, changing these narratives, and sharing them might make us vulnerable, but also helps us heal and grow. Bottled-up emotions can lead to stress and anxiety, and storytelling offers catharsis and relief. Self-Reflection and Awareness: Narrating your story forces you to reflect on your experiences, choices, and emotions. This self-awareness is fundamental for understanding and managing mental health better. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, we're celebrating the healing power of storytelling. Often used in therapy, storytelling allows people to feel heard and validated, which in turn can reduce anxiety, normalize an experience, and help people accurately perceive their experiences.
