Make your sprint training more specific! Improve your on-field carry over by training your curved speed. Why? Because the majority of sprints we see in match (sometimes up to 85% of total) are curved in nature. While straight line acceleration and top speed are important, most athletes neglect curved running in training. Add these into your training and you’ll immediately notice how it translates to the game. And you’ll also feel the different stresses it places on the knees, ankles and musculature around the hip. Areas that we all know can help contribute to injury prevention when built up. Shout out to STATSports for putting out their Project Max Speed program that even this old man is seeing benefit from! *Pro tip: don’t forget to run BOTH sides of the arc so that you’re distributing stresses equally. #getfaster #athletetraining #sportsperformancetraining
