Vitalik Buterin has praised a new study by PhD candidate Burak Öz alongside members of Flashbots and the Ethereum Foundation that explores the correlation between block builders’ market share and profitability. Block builders with greater market share have higher profit margins, potentially compromising decentralization amongst builders. Buterin emphasizes the need to address centralization risks to maintain Ethereum’s resilience against censorship. Buterin’s recent proposals also focus on improving decentralization and validation speed, reinforcing Ethereum’s commitment to innovation and security. Read more below👇 https://lnkd.in/eVuMk7Wa

🚀 Ethereum’s Data Availability (DA) Layer: Which one should you choose? What's next? The Ethereum Foundation recently took a significant step towards enhancing DA space utilization for L2 roll-ups with the implementation of EIP-4844 (Proto-Danksharding) during the Dencun mainnet upgrade. Key Insights ➡ EIP-4844 introduces a new temporal storage format called “Blob,” significantly reducing L2 transaction fees and strains on L1. ➡ However, EIP-4844 also presents potential limitations regarding fees and scalability due to restrictions on data amount and exponential blob fee increases. ➡ DA layer projects like Celestia, Avail, and EigenDA offer alternative solutions for overcoming these constraints by scaling without increasing hardware requirements or sacrificing security. ➡ These DA layers achieve scalability through various methods, such as Data Availability Sampling (DAS) and Data Availability Committee (DAC). ➡ Despite their advantages, DA layers relying on cross-chain bridges are potentially vulnerable to 51% attacks, which developers must consider when choosing the most suitable solution. The future of Ethereum’s DA is both exciting and challenging, with various solutions presenting unique trade-offs. As the ecosystem continues to evolve, developers must carefully weigh the pros and cons of each approach to ensure the best fit for their needs. I shared some comments with Cointelegraph about the post-election rally in DeFi coins, here's a quick breakdown on what's causing this: -What’s Happening: With Trump winning, the regulatory shackles are off and DeFi tokens (e.g. AAVE, and UNI) are pumping. There is an expectation that these projects can pass protocol revenue on to token holders without concerns of regulatory action -Background: Recently, defi tokens were mostly viewed as "useless governance tokens" (used for voting on protocol changes), with no direct financial value accrual. -Regulatory Hurdles: The SECs regulation by enforcement approach (which targeted Uniswap) had spooked investors about defi tokens being classified as securities, sidelining investors who would be hopeful for future token value accrual -Regulatory Shift: With Trump’s election win and his promise to replace SEC Chair Gary Gensler, markets are pricing an open regulatory envrionment for DeFi. - Major Developments: Aave’s “Fee Switch”: Proposed in April, it would direct some revenue back to token holders. AAVE is up over 60% since then, with an extra 30% bump post-election. Uniswap’s “Unichain”: Announced in October, it will route fees to UNI token holders, transforming UNI into a utility asset. UNI has jumped over 30% post-election. -Broader Impact: Other DeFi tokens like LIDO, ENA, MKR, and FXS are following suit as defi emerges post election as one of the best performing sectors in the asset class. https://lnkd.in/gBCxFKua

New Ethereum proposal to make the network 33% faster 🚀 Proposed by Ethereum developer Ben Adams, EIP-7781 wants to shorten slot times on the Ethereum L1 from from 12 seconds to 8 seconds. If passed, EIP-7781 would have significant positive impacts on #rollups whose architecture leverages the sequencer of the L1 and thereby is constrained by L1 block times. A new proposal aimed at improving the Ethereum network's performance has been put forward by developer Ben Adams. Known as EIP-7781, the proposal seeks to reduce the slot times on Ethereum’s Layer 1 from 12 seconds to 8 seconds, which could make the network approximately 33% faster. If implemented, this change could greatly benefit rollups, as their architecture relies on the Layer 1 sequencer and is limited by the existing block times. While this proposal has the potential to enhance efficiency and scalability, it’s important to consider how it may affect network stability and security in the long run. #Ethereum #DigitalAssets #Innovation
