Recent polls show what we all are already aware of…we are more stressed in every single aspect of our lives than any time in recorded history. Jobs, family life, personal health and wellbeing, social relationships, etc. are all adversely impacted by our stress levels. I’ve been a Fellow of AIS for 5 years. This organization’s entire mission is to help people manage their stress in healthy, productive ways. To that end, they have a ton of resources to help understand your specific stressors and how you respond, science-backed resources to help you learn to manage your stress, podcasts, webinars, magazines, documentaries, and more. Please consider donating to this amazing organization on this giving Tuesday. While you’re at it, consider becoming a member. For a small annual fee, you get access to more of their amazing resources.
💙 This #GivingTuesday, help us reduce stress and improve lives. 💙 At The American Institute of Stress, we are committed to raising awareness about stress and providing resources to help individuals manage it. Your support today can make a real difference. We deeply appreciate any contribution, big or small, as we continue our mission to promote mental health and well-being. As relates to my last post about charitable giving, as a mental health counselor, I am well aware of the importance of direct involvement in making a real difference. While monetary donations are certainly helpful, there's another aspect that we often overlook - our time, expertise, and compassion. Perhaps I can offer my counseling services to those in need, or hold workshops and seminars on managing sleep, anxiety, OCD, and Tourette's. I can provide educational content that could eventually lead to self-empowerment and self-treatment. In the grand scheme of things, we should remember that empowerment is a gift that keeps on giving, much longer than any amount of money can ever provide. So, let's ponder - what can we offer other than money? Let's dig deep into our own knowledge and expertise, use them in service of others, and ultimately, create a more empowered and resilient society. Thoughts? #mentalhealth #charity #empowerment

As we dive into November, I want to highlight an inspiring initiative that’s close to my heart. Jonny is taking a bold step by putting down the razor and committing to run 90km to support men's mental health this Movember! Why is this so crucial? Male suicide remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. It’s time we break the silence and address the mental health challenges faced by men. Jonny’s efforts, alongside Movember, are vital in sparking conversations and creating lasting change. Let’s rally together to support him! Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference. Let’s make this Movember a memorable one, filled with hope and action—one mustache and one mile at a time! #Movember #MensHealth #MentalHealthAwareness

Todays talk “No Panic! Getting your head around anxiety” was for the brilliant Geldards LLP a very welcoming and engaged bunch over 70 individuals. Also raising money for the Charity No Panic at the same time, which as a patron the team are always very pleased about! 💙 Do get in touch if you're interested in having the session in your organisation for bookings in December 2024 or early next year. I’ll leave you with three questions from Dr Martin Seligman that are helpful when you might be experiencing anxious thoughts and want to stop from spiralling even more (as well as some calm breathing, too!). 1️⃣ is this permanent? 2️⃣ is this personal? 3️⃣ is this pervasive? #anxiety #mentalhealth #keynote

We Need More Than Awareness: It’s Time for Action It's Suicide Awareness Month, and while mental health awareness is at an all-time high, real change remains painfully slow. Billions is spent globally on campaigns, but where’s the impact? Charities like Mind raised £59.2 million in 2023, with their CEO earning £132,000 – yet they offer no clinical services. Samaritans raise £21 million annually, with a CEO salary of £150,000. Awareness is crucial, but it’s not enough. I’ve been there—serving in the police, battling suicidal thoughts, and fighting my way back. I saw first-hand the gaps in support. Awareness raises money, but action saves lives. That’s why I founded Make Your Life Count, to do more than talk. What do you think? Should charities be doing more than just raising awareness? Let’s push for real change. Drop your thoughts below. And of course if you need help take action because I know what it takes to turn adversity into oppotunity #SuicidePrevention #MentalHealthMatters #TakeAction #EndTheStigma #MakeYourLifeCount #MoreThanAwareness #TimeForChange #SupportNotProfit #MentalHealthRevolution

It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, and did you know the construction industry has one of the highest rates for male suicide? There are amazing charities and organisations out there, providing vital support to individuals and communities and making a difference - such as Mates in Mind and Andy's Man Club. That's why we've made donations to both of these organisations! The reality is, so many of us struggle with mental health issues, especially in industries where pressures can run high. If you're struggling, you're not alone. #ANDYSMANCLUB offers free, peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online, providing a safe space for all. For employers, Mates in Mind offer tailored guidance and support across various sectors, including construction and manufacturing, helping to create environments where everyone feels supported. Remember, reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness 💙 #mentalhealthawareness #itsokaytotalk #mentalhealth
