The Human Trafficking Act of Ghana, which came into effect on December 5, 2005, serves as a vital tool in the fight against human trafficking within, to, from, and through Ghana. Subsequently, on July 20, 2009, an important amendment was enacted to redefine human trafficking and address related issues, thus strengthening the country's anti-trafficking efforts. On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, let us unite and raise the clarion call against the scourge of human trafficking. Together, let's work towards a world free from this heinous crime against humanity. #acepa #worlddayagainsttrafficking #ghana

🇲🇼 ⚖️ In #Malawi, DT Global is helping to provide technical assistance to justice sector actors through the Access to Justice Programme (Chilungamo II), funded by the EU Delegation (EUD), which aims to: ✅ Raise legal awareness and education among vulnerable and marginalized groups. ✅ Enhance the ability to provide legal and paralegal aid and mediation. ✅ Improve the Malawi Prison Service's capacity to implement alternative sentencing. ✅ Increase the knowledge, skills, and capacity of key justice institutions to ensure gender balance. The Programme Steering Committee has approved a four-year work plan, for which the proposal has been submitted to EUD representatives for funding. Over the next four years, DT -Global will provide technical assistance to all seven implementing partners to ensure effective execution and achievement of their goals. Marko Lehto will lead the DT -Global TA team and the Programme Management Unit (PMU) for grant implementation. #IWork4DTGlobal #WeAreDTGlobal #TechnicalAssistance #EUDelegation #MalawiJusticeSector #AccessToJustice #ChilungamoII

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 According to the Government’s Special Parliamentary Committee on Gender-Based Violence (SPC-GBV)* in PNG, on average, almost 400 people are accused of sorcery each year, with 65 of these accusations resulting in the accused person being killed. We support the SPC-GBV recommendations for action to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence and Sorcery Accusation Related Violence (SARV). Recommendation 28a states that the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary should review its existing SARV response mechanisms and develop a specific proposal or strategy to address the problem. This includes clarifying the personnel dedicated to SARV investigations, any internal procedural changes to strengthen the response, and any budget requirements. We call on the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary to share an update on the nation’s progress in implementing this recommendation. #PNG20DaysOfActivism #16DaysOfActivism

To the average Nigerian, the concept of transitional justice is increasingly associated with granting amnesty to those involved in conflicts. Despite apparent strides in combating Boko Haram, individuals affected by the conflict feel that their concerns are being overlooked in the government-led transitional justice process. In this CDD blog post, Oluwapelumi Obisesan offers a thorough analysis based on extensive fieldwork conducted in Nigeria’s NorthEast between October 2022 and June 2023. The analysis investigates the discrepancies and suggests ways to enhance the implementation of Transitional Justice (TJ) in response to the region's crises. As we advocate for more inclusive policy and implementation of laws prohibiting GBV in Zambia, let us also bash cultural practices like FGM which are a form of physical violence against the girl child. Hereunder is attached a link to lecture/ presentation if you may call it that on the subject matter i did last month. Learn and disseminate. Let us make informed choices in our advocacy as well so that we leave no stones unturned in this fight. #LINK: https://lnkd.in/dk2XWAmd #ZerotolerancetoGBV #Mwanamukazialila #Mwanamwamunaamalila #NotoGBV
