When is it right not to follow process? 🤔 In HR, we don’t always advocate going by the book. There are occasions where the right thing to do is not follow the process and take a more pragmatic approach. Last Thursday a client had a disciplinary case, the employee was stressed to the MAX about it. According to the policy we should have given two days’ notice as a minimum which would have meant waiting until at least Monday, leaving him to worry over the weekend. I advised the line manager to speak to the employee and offer to get it done on Friday morning instead. The employee was very happy to go ahead and was relieved and able to relax over the weekend. The client was also very happy to have him back to his normal self, focussing on his work. What rules have you broken for the good of the team? #hrconsultant #process #procedures #willowhr
