👇 Evolution of the Tour de France's Carbon Emissions Since 2013 🇫🇷🚴 2021: 216,388 tC02 2019: ? 2017: ? 2015: ? 2013: 341,000 tC02 Goal for 2025: 170,500 tC02 Despite conducting carbon audits every two years, the Tour rarely discloses detailed results, making it challenging to fully assess its environmental impacts, progress, and areas for improvement. Based on available data: • Scope 1 & 2 emissions in 2021 ~ 12,984 tC02 • Scope 3 emissions in 2021 ~ 203,404 tC02 • Scope 1 & 2 emissions in 2013 ~ 20,600 tC02 • Scope 3 emissions in 2013 ~ 320,300 tC02 Transparency about an event’s carbon footprint should be viewed as an opportunity, not a trap. At Circular Unity, we advocate for shifting from a risk perspective to an opportunity perspective. By embracing transparency, event organizers can improve their carbon accounting methods, enhance their sustainability expertise, and establish essential benchmarks for the rest of the industry. The Tour started this weekend in Italy, offering an incredible platform to embrace and showcase environmental stewardship. With 42.5 million viewers in 2023, the Tour de France can set new standards for sustainability in sports events. To assist events in reporting their environmental impact, we developed impactALL, a solution specifically designed for events and sports. The DP World Tour has launched a new fan travel emissions tracker, which will help spectators to calculate and offset their greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) when travelling to and from #golf tournaments. The easy-to-use tool is being deployed in collaboration with Hamburg-based carbon management solutions provider AQ Green TeC, with ticketholders across 12 tournaments in 2024 automatically receiving a link to a new portal to input their event travel-related data. After submitting details on flights, accommodation and ground transportation, spectators will be offered a way to purchase verified carbon credits to offset their calculated GHG emissions. “It is widely recognised that the biggest contributor to GHG emissions for live events comes via the spectator / fan / attendee travel,” David Grundlingh, Chief Executive of AQ Green TeC, told Global Sustainable Sport. The Move to Net Zero 🌍🌿✨ In an era where environmental consciousness is paramount, the hospitality industry is experiencing a transformative shift towards sustainable practices. As Chief Engineer of Radisson RED Rosebank, I'm thrilled to share our commitment to sustainability through actionable steps towards a greener future. We've meticulously reviewed our energy usage, identifying areas for improvement and crafting a detailed action plan to address them. Over the coming months, we'll implement small yet impactful changes, from energy-efficient lighting and smart thermostats to innovative water-saving technologies. Our goal? To enhance guest comfort while reducing our carbon footprint, all in alignment with Radisson Hotel Group’s broader environmental vision - to be net zero by 2050. While achieving this ambitious goal may be a journey, every step counts. We're dedicated to making incremental improvements that resonate with our guests' desire for eco-conscious experiences. Together, we can make a meaningful change, advancing towards our goal of achieving #netzero by 2050 through one innovation at a time. #radissonhotels #radissonred #movetonetzero #sustainabilityinhospitality #earthday2024 #greentourism #thinkplanet

The hotel industry needs to reduce its carbon emissions per room by 66% by 2030 and 90% by 2050 (versus 2010 levels) to ensure the industry's growth does not lead to a corresponding increase in carbon emissions... This quote from the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance's Decarbonisation report really stuck with me. For most of the past decade, I have looked at the STR Pipeline per Region report with optimism - what incredible growth I thought. 📈 But to consider that hotels already account for ~1% of global emissions with no sign of tangible improvement - that pipeline now looks to me like a ticking time bomb on our most valuable (shared) asset, Earth. 🌏 It's been so refreshing to see the likes of Weeva showing real, tangible, scientific-based progression of their partner hotels against global emission goals. But, I'd love to hear more from my network. Which hotels, travel companies or associations are doing great work to improve travel's impact on our environment? #sustainabilityfirst #sustainabletravel #travelemissions

People knowing me know that I am rather sceptical about the honesty in the #travel industry when it comes to sustainability ♻️ That's why I enjoyed the discussion with Mehdi Hemici of ALL - Accor Live Limitless in our latest episode of #LoyalTea, giving a more practical dimension to the discussion. And you know what? If you replace the word "sustainability" by "social responsibility", the question what sustainability should look like at the level of loyalty programs takes a much more pragmatic meaning! 🧐 #globalflight
