How apropos that on July 4th we announce our LIVE event on July 11th with the incredible men of Courser Racing. If you haven't seen that, you can join the event here: https://lnkd.in/e5sxxuZB Peter , Chris, Blake, and Jamie are former Special Operators that served our country with honor. They founded Courser Racing, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2023, in Charleston, SC to help Veterans, Law Enforcement, and Firefighters by placing them on Ocean Rowing Expeditions to support their transition to the civilian workforce. Courser Racing chose Ocean Rowing as a vehicle for transition support because it is relatively low cost (the ocean is free) and it mirrors the rigors of service required of Special Operations Veterans, Law Enforcement, and Firefighter/ EMS personnel. Like warfare, law enforcement, disaster response, and emergency medical services, Ocean Rowing requires physicality, mental acuity, emotional resilience, risk mitigation/ contingency planning, systems implementation, technological prowess, and inventory management. Courser Racing provides support to these communities through a team-based robust maritime training regimen (simulating the rigor of a deployment cycle or emergency response preparation), by leveraging a professional business mentor network for job placement and providing business experience through organic non-profit activities including fundraising, P+L management, recruiting, marketing, donor relations, and sponsorship contract negotiations. The Courser Racing Methodology supports those transitioning to the civilian workforce in 6-12 month "cohorts". Each Cohort is subdivided into four-man teams based on past experiences, aptitude, geographic location, professional aspirations, and interpersonal qualities. Once Teams are assigned, each team is given training plans, objectives, training dates, and assigned a set of mentors for transition support. Upon the culmination of the training iterations in Charleston, SC, the Teams complete their "Expeditions" launching on Courser Racing's Rannoch R45 from Charleston, SC or Pensacola, FL to a (reasonable) destination of their choice. We knew he was one of us when he replied.... "discipline, to be humble, to be prepared, to complain less about the small things in life." This was in response to the question, "what does endurance teach you?" BarrUltra Racing member, Georgi Stoychev is currently about 320 miles into the non-stop, unsupported, 629 mile North Star Bicycle race. Georgi's one of our most versatile riders, skilled in both supported and unsupported racing. His longest unsupported race to date has been Bike Non-Stop US, a mere 3475-miles, where he came in third! That's a serious and strong ride so you'd be forgiven for thinking that 629 miles is a 'pedal in the park.' Not so, the North Star Bicycle race describes itself as a 'battle by bicycle', and I know that Georgi is ready to bring it, now that we've refined his fuelling and hydration strategy. I need to be honest here. I was a bit hesitant to fundraise for London Marathon. Its not a small local race with an equally small fundraising target. Its a world major with a solid minimum target. On thing I was not hesitant on was who I'd fundraise for. Achilles International was an easy pick given my connection to the organization and 100% belief in their mission & vision. Having blown pass the 50% mark in just about 2 months, clearly Achilles mission is "an easy sell". As we are entering Fall race season, I wanted to highlight some specifics on where chapter funds go: $25 will cover one athlete to participate in a local 5k $40 will cover one athlete in the Philadelphia Marathon 8k race $50 will cover one athlete in the Philadelphia Distance Run 5k $60 will cover one guide [to support an athlete] in the Broad Street Run $90 will cover one athlete in the Philadelphia Distance Run Half Marathon $100 will cover one athlete in the Philadelphia Half Marathon $110 will cover one athlete in the Philadelphia Marathon And speaking of the Philadelphia Distance Run, it is scheduled for this coming weekend and the Philadelphia chapter will have 8 athletes in attendance. If you could please consider donating $36 (or more) to Els for Autism via the link above, I would appreciate it ❤️ Golf Course #2 - Augusta National GC My second favorite course I’ve ever played is one that needs no introduction…Augusta National! Opening in 1932 and designed by Bobby Jones & Alister MacKenzie, ANGC was founded on a 365-acre site of a former tree nursery, which explains the property’s beauty. Jones figured this was the perfect place to build a world-class winter golf course in his home state of Georgia. Fun fact: There were also plans to build additional amenities at ANGC, such as tennis and squash courts, but these plans were scrapped due to lack of funding during the Great Depression and were never reconsidered. The Masters Tournament began in 1934, just two years after opening, and is still held annually which many would say is the biggest and most prestigious golf tournament in the world. I was lucky enough to play Augusta National two times while attending college at Clemson University; several alumni are members there at the club and they host Clemson golfers each year as a recruiting tool. The experience lives up to the hype in every way and provides a round of golf I will never forget. My 5 key takeaways from Augusta National: 1) My heart rate on #1 tee had to be close to 180 beats/min; it is a very cool feeling to tee it up in the same place as all of golf’s legends. 2) The course is longer and the greens are crazier than you think; for example, I had a 5 wood into #11 after a perfect drive (for me), and I don’t think I played a putt inside the hole all day 😂. 3) The atmosphere, including the lunch menu, is more simple and casual than you would think, but done with perfection; I had a post round cheeseburger with french fries that was delicious. 4) Although I am happy with all of the pictures I took, I think if I played it again, I would only take a pic on #1 and #18 and focus more on my round; I shot a 76 and a 80 the two times I played it. And 5) Walking up to the 18th green is a very surreal feeling, but also very sad moment, as you know your special, potentially once-in-a-lifetime experience is coming to an end; I can only hope that one day I will have another chance to play it…and who knows, maybe in The Masters ⛳️🏌️♂️

Sometimes clubs are managed poorly, and struggle to survive, but here is a good club, with a good history, unable to get on with their landlords. If you are a sailing lawyer and might be able to help, then get in touch with them and offer your services. If you love sailing, and believe others should do too then perhaps put a few pounds into their campaign. If you work in the industry, and want an industry to be thriving, then make a corporate size donation - this way we can ensure our customers now and in the future will still be customers. The Longest Day Golf Challenge...... 72 holes in one day. For those who don't play golf - this is a big day.... pretty much what it says on the tin. It will take around 12 hours to complete the challenge. But golf isn't the major focus for the day - raising awareness of the work The NZ Cancer Society does is the big goal. As is raising as much $$$$ as we can for an organisation that supports so many Kiwis every year. Ash Palmer and I are going to complete this challenge on Jan 11th at Horsham Downs Golf Club. To make this as successful as possible we need to following: - Items to raffle. This could be vouchers, products, cars - whatever you can donate to raise money on the day. - Helpers and supporters on the day. We will be having games, BBQ and possibly more, so any help is welcome. Part of the day, an hour here and there, it all makes a difference - Caddies. Ash and I are determined to walk all 72 holes, but volunteers to push a cart or drive our bags around is welcome (also you must be highly qualified at looking for golf balls!!) - playing partners. We will get a few early rounds in, but later in the day we will open up a few holes to have people play alongside of us. There is a catch of course - we want people to donate $10 per hole you play with us (we are that exclusive!!) -If you are in a business that has branded merchandise e.g. hats, shirts, umbrellas, water bottles etc - we would love to have some for spot prizes on the day. We will be running putting competitions and possibly a few other things (as we make them up) so having donated prizes for all ages would be fantastic. If you have any other ideas on how to support this crazy idea - let us know!

If you could please consider donating $36 (or more) to Els for Autism via the link above, I would appreciate it ❤️ Golf Course #7 - Trump Turnberry (Ailsa) For course #7 we stay across the pond in Scotland to play the famous Turnberry (Ailsa) course. Founded in 1899 by Archibald Kennedy, 3rd Marquess of Ailsa, the idea for the course came about when a main railroad & passenger train was built close by and the land was not fertile enough for agriculture, thus making a golf course & hotel an excellent money making opportunity. Archibald hired 1883 Open Champion, Willie Fernie, to come in and design the course, which at the time was only 13 holes, and the project was overall successful, luring many golfers from all over Britain who stayed and played Turnberry. Unfortunately, this success was short-lived, because when the World Wars happened, it was decided that the course should be used as an airbase and the hotel as a hospital, as the coastline was too valuable to pass up. The course was essentially ruined as a result. It was not until after the wars when British Transport Hotels convinced government that the course and hotel should be restored, and thankfully for us golfers, the project was approved and architect Mackenzie Ross made it the 18-hole championship masterpiece it now is today. Since then, it has now hosted the Open Championship 4 times, the last being 2009 when Tom Watson famously almost became the oldest major championship winner at age 61, bogeying the last hole and losing in a sudden death playoff to Stewart Cink. I got to play Turnberry in 2018, and talk about a course that is jaw dropping! When you make the turn out on the coast, playing holes alongside the cliffs with the famous lighthouse in view, it is a spiritual experience. Not to mention the course is a very fair test; it’s not short, it’s not long, it rewards good shots and penalizes bad ones. Oh, and the walk down 18 with the hotel in the background isn’t bad either! A true joy to play and I hope to do it again one day ⛳️
