As we approach the end of another busy year, our Chief People Officer, Sarnjit Kaur (Chartered FCIPD) has been reflecting on what positive impact we’ve made to the culture at Cox Automotive in 2024. Here’s what she has to say: “As CPO, I firmly believe the role of HR is to underpin the business strategic priorities by creating a culture that motivates our people to win in the marketplace. Leaders will be well versed with the saying ‘culture eats strategy for breakfast’, and I am really appreciative that our President, Martin Forbes fully supports and enables everything we do in order to build a culture that cares, recognises our people’s achievements, and is committed to the development of each and every person at Cox Automotive. We always say ‘People, Customer, Performance’ – and although that looks like just words on a page, I can say, that in our organisation, our people really do truly come first. I spoke about this, and what it looks like in action, on a recent episode of The CrossKnowledge Podcast. You can listen here: https://lnkd.in/ewrp65mh So, let me end 2024 by saying a big ‘thank you’, to my wonderful People Solutions team, our European Culture & Engagement Team, our Employee Resource Groups, and Martin and the rest of the ELT, for supporting us to keep investing in our unique and special culture at Cox Automotive.” To come experience our culture for yourself, check out our vacancies on our career site: www.coxautoinc.eu/careers/

I had a great conversation yesterday with Kerry Siggins, CEO of StoneAge and author of The Ownership Mindset. Officially, Kerry was interviewing me to discuss my upcoming book Productivity Reimagined for her podcast, Reflect Forward. But on account of her knowledge and enthusiasm, I wound up asking her a lot of questions as well, so it was very much a two-way street. It’s great when an interview turns into a dialogue. I had interviewed Kerry last year, and she provided some great input for Productivity Reimagined. What’s great about Kerry is the way she frames the ownership issue. Not only is she building a culture in which employees own all the aspects of their processes – safety, quality, customer satisfaction, supplier relationships – but they also own the company itself; StoneAge is now 100% employee owned. So, there’s great clarity around that message, which is why it resonates so well. For Kerry, that ownership mindset is key to employee engagement, and that in turn creates the kind of workforce that can turn productivity into a competitive advantage. This is the kind of business model where everybody – employees, customers, suppliers, the community, the economy – wins. The podcast will be broadcast on Reflect Forward in September, leading up to my October 8 launch.
