👏 👏 Creating a Fife Whisky Region now would provide a clear identity, marketing advantage, and a sense of pride for local producers and consumers. While the logistical and bureaucratic hurdles are real, the long-term benefits for Fife's whisky-making community and its global reputation outweigh the costs. As the saying goes, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; the second-best time is now. The same holds true for establishing Fife as a whisky region 👏 This version draws more attention to the passion and heritage of the distilleries while emphasizing the unique opportunity to build a distinct identity for Fife now, rather than waiting. The goal is to inspire a sense of pride and urgency in moving forward with the creation of a Fife Whisky Region. https://lnkd.in/ghhfefNA #whisky #fifewhisky #fife

## Artisanal or Alarming? The Hidden Dangers in Craft Gin Production 🍸🚫 I recently stumbled upon a video that left me shaken, not stirred 😱 - and not in a good way! It showed someone hand-shaking gin before bottling. While it might look quaint and artisanal, it raises some serious red flags 🚩 **Safety Concerns vs. Public Perception:** - 🦠 Potential contamination risks - 👏 Yet, consumers often praise these "handcrafted" methods - 🏆 Some of these products even win awards in competitions! **The Blind Spot in Blind Tastings:** Judges in blind tastings can't "see" these questionable techniques 🙈 They focus on: - 👃 Aroma - 👅 Taste - 🎨 Appearance But what about the unseen dangers? 🕵️♀️ **HACCP and Regulatory Concerns:** - ❌ Likely non-compliant with HACCP standards - 🏭 Violates good manufacturing practices - 🧼 Lacks proper sanitation controls **The Bigger Picture:** It's concerning that products made without proper health controls are not only sold but celebrated 😕 This raises questions about: - 🏅 The criteria used in spirits competitions - 👨🍳 The romanticization of "artisanal" techniques - 🧑🔬 The need for better consumer education on food safety While we all love a good craft spirit, shouldn't we prioritize safety over spectacle? 🤔 Let's appreciate the art of distilling without compromising on health standards! What do you think? Is the charm of "handcrafted" worth the risk? Share your thoughts below! 💬👇

The article in this post pulls together very well the many strands for the argument in favour of Fife being its own whisky region. As it clearly states we at InchDairnie Distillery are very strong advocates for this big step. We believe this will assist in the growth and development of all the fine whisky brands distilled in Fife, many of whom are already on the global stage. Provenance is important to many of our consumers, where does your whisky come from? Answering that question with clarity and simplicity is a a big part of the tool box needed in this increasingly highly competitive market place to build our brands. Todays consumer is curious and hungry for information, it is our role as brand owners to provide that information and to put it front and centre of our branding. Whisky is distilled in many more countries than ever before, the competition is no longer home grown. Countries where they have the freedom to take their own path. I simply do not understand why we in Fife should be denied the right to take our own path in this ever changing and challenging world.
In my inaugural blog post for my new Fife Whisky Tour Website & Day Trip I discuss why I believe my beloved Fife should be allowed to break free from its Lowland Whisky Region chains to become its own Fife Whisky Region. Starring: William Wemyss & Isabella Wemyss of Kingsbarns Distillery and Visitor Centre. Andrew McKenzie Smith of Lindores Abbey Distillery. Ian Palmer of InchDairnie Distillery. Francis Cuthbert of Daftmill Distillery. Mike Aikman of Bramble, Lucky Liquor & The Last Word. Simon Erlanger of Isle of Harris Distillers Ltd. Archie McDiarmid of Luvians, St Andrews. Whisky authors Dave Broom & David Sturk. The Haig, Stein & Bonthrone dynasties, My late father John Gordon Clement. Actors Kevin Costner & late James Earl Jones in The Field of Dreams. Singer-somgwriter King Creosote (Kenny Anderson). Justine Hazlehurst & Karen Somerville of Fife Whisky Festival. What do you think? Would love to hear your opinions on the matter in the comments...

🌟 The Baltersan Whisky Vision: Small Batches, Big Dreams 🌟 At Baltersan, our journey into whisky isn’t just about creating spirits—it’s about crafting stories. Starting with a carefully chosen Caol Ila 12-year-old single cask, unfiltered, we are working hand-in-hand with pure-bred Scottish distilleries and expert bottlers. Our goal? To unearth and share little gems of whisky in small, exclusive batches, each crafted with care and precision. But this is just the beginning. Historically, Baltersan Castle had a mill and pond powered by a stream that runs through the land. As we dream forward, we don’t exclude the possibility of reviving these roots to create a Baltersan distillery—marrying tradition, sustainability, and exceptional whisky craftsmanship. Although we cannot use the original water source, we have identified springs in Ayrshire that provide exceptional quality water—ensuring our whisky remains deeply rooted in the land and traditions of Scotland. For now, we invite whisky enthusiasts, connoisseurs, and industry aficionados to join us on this journey. Let’s celebrate the art of whisky and the beauty of small-batch perfection. 🍂 What do you look for in a single-cask whisky? 🏴☠️ How important is the connection between a whisky and its heritage to you? Here’s a sneak peek of our first concept bottle design—crafted to reflect the authenticity and elegance of our vision. We’d love to hear your thoughts! #BaltersanWhisky #SmallBatchPerfection #ScotchWhisky #HeritageAndCraft #DrinkResponsibly #AlcoholAwareness #ResponsibleCrafting

Exciting progress in New York's beverage alcohol industry! The recent legislative changes create a more equitable landscape for producers, setting a promising precedent for other states. Remember, meaningful industry reform happens at the legislative level. Texas may be next, with Senate Bill 246 currently under consideration. This proposed legislation aims to level the playing field for beverage alcohol producers, much like New York's initiative. If you're interested in supporting Texas Senate Bill 246 and would like guidance on contacting your state legislators, feel free to send me a direct message. #BeverageIndustry #Legislation #AlcoholPolicy #Texas #NewYork
New York's legalization of DTC spirits shipping took effect on November 16th. In the last few days, we've facilitated the first transactions for two NY-based distilleries - Dragonfyre Distillery for their Whiskey sample pack and 1911 Established for their bourbon through the Vinoshipper platform for them. Go NY! It really is not that hard for all states to follow this model, expanding sales channels helps all markets. #dtc #ILoveNY #SpiritsIndustry #modernthinkers ##timeforchange #Whiskey #Bourbon Distilled Spirits Council of the United States American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA) American Distilling Institute
