#ppmt #art #design What exactly is PPMT? - PPMT stands for Process, Procedure, Method and Technique in that order. - It shows how the artist honed their skills to achieve their kaupapa - To use PPMT, you must establish a question you can answer with PPMTs. - What was the artist trying to achieve? It would help if you learned about the artist’s intentions to understand what the artist was trying to do fully. PROCESS — What process was used to make this artwork Why is it effective How was it made (in basic words) Date of the work Media used PROCEDURE — What part of the process is specifically used Eg. if photography is the process, then panoramic landscape photography is the procedure More specific info. Do you have any photos or film clips that depict the natural world in urban environments that could be included in a projection based art installation? Deadline for submission August 20th Between Monday 19th and Friday 23rd August 2024, Laura Marker will be artist in residence in The Everybody Gallery. Over 5 days Laura will be creating a site-specific projection based installation investigating habitat loss and biodiversity fragmentation within the urban/suburban environment. Laura’s installation will feature freestanding sculptural forms with surfaces that are suitable for projected imagery. For some months, Laura has been documenting locations that she considers to represent the idea of ‘urban countryside’. For Laura, these are areas that she thinks of as ‘countryside islands’; fragments of left behind space within the urban/suburban environment. The areas that Laura thinks of as ‘islands’ include a mixture of undeveloped green space alongside ancient features that have somehow avoided development within the ever expanding towns. For the residency, Laura would like to try and combine *her* documented imagery with *yours*. Laura will collate together a mixture of her own and other people's photographs and film clips, and create a collage/montage for projection within the art installation. This is an opportunity open to all. You don’t have to consider yourself an artist to participate and clips or snapshots from your phone as well as more formal photography are all very welcome. By sending your images and clips to Laura, you are confirming that you are happy for her to manipulate and edit your digital imagery into a digital collage for the installation (your image will be contained within an artwork that includes many other images and clips, rather than your image being displayed in its original form). We’re excited to see your interpretations of the theme, for being able to work with your imagery and for having the opportunity to see what develops over the course of the residency. If you would like to have your contribution acknowledged please provide your details such as name/social media etc. If you prefer to submit anonymously, that’s also fine. Please send submissions by August 20th at the latest to marker.laura@gmail.com

A Piece of Work, at Maine Media, August 26–30 This in-person workshop is about photography as a Way. It uses a series of exercises and assignments to take us out beyond our habits of thought and seeing, and it leads us directly to a clear experience of that creative state where our best, most transformative work is born. We work on our feet and in our minds, and we go looking for pictures that surprise us, pictures that we look into, not at, pictures we can’t think our way to. We find things that we didn’t even know were there in us, maybe the best reason for making art in the first place. This is a unique approach, and although it turned out that we could do a lot online, this works has to be done in person. Here is a link to the workshop: https://bit.ly/4cnTkol And here is a link to a chapter from Looking Into the Light which explains the whole underlying approach: https://bit.ly/3XETvHr

Technology is always creating new ways to represent or "misrepresent" the world but those problems are endemic to human existence. A look at Renaissance painting or art reminds us that many of those portraits or sculptures took liberties in representation that would be considered "faking" it its day. Human beings are both desperate meaning grasping and generating machines while at the same time wonderful meaning grasping and generating machines. Interpreting the world and the self is constitutive of human beings as we never see the world "in itself," only interpretations of the world and ourselves.

Time-lapse photography is an effective way to document the progress of construction projects. By capturing images over extended periods. This technique helps project managers track construction timelines, monitor productivity, and identify potential delays. It also offers stakeholders a transparent view of the project’s evolution in a concise format. Time-lapse is particularly useful for large-scale builds, providing an efficient way to communicate progress and keep everyone informed throughout the construction process. #timelapseconstruction #building #timelapse #timelapseUK
