We are trying to address the lack of youth representation in conversations that matter, through more creative media such as drawings, paintings and poetry. Much like moments in history where voices united to shape change, Voices of Tomorrow is giving today’s youth the tools to share their creative visions with the world. I had such a fabulous time at the Collaborative by Classy conference these past two days in Chicago! (Special shout-out to Kaitlyn Woodward Patterson for encouraging me to go.) As someone who has worked for different causes including healthcare, the arts, DEI and now STEM (and is also a fan girl of the fundraising platform), it was truly inspiring hearing what other organizations are doing in this space. Some key takeaways and common themes throughout were: - A donation is a call for participation. We're asking someone to do something that'll change the way they live that should prevent us from doing the work we have to do. - In order to innovate, we have to take risks. It seems like the opposite of what we're supposed to do as people that always want to deliver confidence, but sometimes, it's the only way to grow. How do we build alternatives just to prove it's possible? We also shouldn't be afraid of failure because that means our goals were ambitious and it gives us room for self-examination. - Its important to gain trust. Can donors rely on us to fulfill their social contracts and give them an altruistic experience? We have to get them to understand why what we're doing is necessary on a human level by finding the emotional truth. People want to be hopeful, they're just waiting for us to give them a reason to be. #WeAreCollaborative #Classy #Conference #Fundraising #Marketing #Nonprofit
