What do you look out for when hiring an email marketing manager? In the rapidly evolving world of digital marketing, hiring the right email marketing manager presents unique challenges. 🧩One of the primary hurdles is finding a professional who not only excels in crafting compelling email campaigns but also possesses a robust analytical mindset to iterate and improve based on performance metrics. Furthermore, they must understand the nuances of brand voice, ensuring it resonates consistently across all communications. Moreover, the integration of new technologies and compliance with ever-changing data protection regulations (like GDPR) add layers of complexity to their role. Hence, securing a candidate who is not only a creative thinker but also vigilant about legal standards is crucial for a company's sustained growth and reputation. I would love to hear thoughts from others in the industry! How do you navigate these hiring challenges? What qualities do you prioritize in candidates for this pivotal role? No VP wants to pay an email marketer $120k. So here's what happens. 👇 The VP hires someone early in their career (<3 years). High potential. Awesome people. But they have to learn the platform AND more about email. Not to mention a new business. Things are a little slow. They don't know what to look for, or what to avoid looking at. But they grow. They get better. And their roles expand outside of email... into operations, content, etc. Email gets a little ignored. They get promoted, grow outside their pay band, or move on... And you're back to hiring a high-potential candidate again. --- This approach is TOTALLY fine. But causes issues IF: 1. You can't justify a whole hire for email marketing. 2. You want to move fast. 3. You need an experienced eye to identify which email programs should be prioritized. This is why fractional email marketing is such a good fit. It's flexible (month to month), it taps into 10+ years of experience, there's little training, and you see impact quickly. From a hiring perspective, it's a low-risk, high-reward move IMO. If that sounds interesting, shoot me a DM. #emailmarketing

What a fantastic advertisement for "targeted" email marketing. First find a support email address that is only to help paying customers access technical support. Then spam it twice in 75 minutes, to prove the superb level of care and professionalism that goes into your "targeting" by not knowing how to dedupe your mailing lists. Thank goodness for spam filters.

Let me be honest, I am frustrated. Hiring is not easy at all! And I am experiencing it first hand. I am trying to hire a “Lead Generation & Email Marketing Specialist” and most of the candidates I interviewed are either lying on their application or they have no idea on the complexities involved in this role. They think email marketing is just knowing a few tools and “running” these campaigns. Guys, knowing how to use “MailChimp and Yamm” is NOT email marketing. Here is what we are looking for- 1. Plan, execute & measure success of lead generation campaigns 2. Manage & segregate a robust database on Industry, Title, Product, Size and Revenue 3. Should have expertise in Excel, MailGun, Bravo, Yamm, Mailchimp, Getresponse, Drip etc 4. Should know about SMTP Server, DMARC records and other technical things 5. Understand the essentials of warming up emails, managing bounce rates, and subscriber management. Implement A/B testing to optimize content If you think you are someone who can excel at this job, please apply using the link below in comments OR please refer to someone who can be an ideal person for this role. And would appreciate it if you can increase the reach of this post by sharing it in your network and commenting! #hiring #email #marketing

We scaled our email marketing business to 7-figures in 4 years. Here are the 4 biggest roadblocks we faced: 1/ Systems and Processes In year 1, we shot up from just Mike and I → 7 employees in a matter of months. And things got chaotic when: We had zero SOP’s for client work Everything was communicated through Slack/Upwork I had to manually review every piece output our team put out We quickly realised that we were going to need systems and processes in place to take care of this. 2/ Combatting scale In year 2 of No Limit, we were scaling like crazy. We had the system down. We had the team in place. But everything was breaking. Nothing was ‘sticking’. This led us to honing in on refining those systems and improve what we already had. 3/ Sales and Marketing. In year number 3, everything was about sales and marketing. As much as we were enjoying building an amazing team and systems to really improve our delivery… We needed something in place for sales and marketing. It was just Mike doing it all at first. So I decided to come in & help out, and made sure we had systems for: Our sales process from start to finish How we do our audits Onboarding clients And scaling all of that. 4/ Scaling w/o hiring Now that we’ve got systems for sales and marketing, the focus has shifted to this: How we can scale revenue without having to hire so many people (we hate recruitment) Improving retention Creating new products Creating new sales channels Overall, these are the main challenges we’ve faced (and are currently facing) with the agency. What are your thoughts on them? Are you facing these same things with your own operation?
