~~ Inclusion and Reverse Inclusion: Expanding the Boundaries of Belonging~~
In today’s evolving workplace, #inclusion is a buzz word that advocates driving efforts to create environments where everyone feels valued and heard.
Recently I learned a beautiful word “ Reverse Inclusion “
What is #Reverse_Inclusion?
Reverse inclusion flips the script by encouraging us to move beyond our familiar settings. While traditional inclusion focuses on inviting people in, reverse inclusion encourages us to step out.
It’s about leaving our comfort zones ,offices, or established networks to immerse ourselves in diverse communities, cultures, and perspectives. Whether it’s attending cultural events, engaging with grassroots movements, or shadowing someone from a different background, reverse inclusion involves seeking firsthand experiences to better understand different viewpoints.
Eg : Engaging one speech and hearing impaired (SHI) staff member in a team represents inclusion. However, when a team is predominantly staffed by SHI individuals, with one or two non-SHI members, it reflects a model of reverse inclusion, where the majority experience becomes that of people with different abilities, fostering a culture centered around their perspectives and needs.
It was a completely new perspective to learn from Prof Pradyumana Khokle in Organisational Behaviour through real life case studies.
