From indie gems to blockbuster hits, B.C. continues to make a significant impact on the global film scene. Some of the highlights include: Domestic Films: • LONGLEGS grosses $100 million at the box office, becoming 2024’s highest-grossing indie film. • YINTAH, a documentary about an Indigenous nation’s fight for sovereignty, is acquired by Netflix and qualifies for the Oscars. B.C. Ties: • Vancouver-born Natalie Rae brings DAUGHTERS to Netflix, which is also shortlisted for an Oscar. • SUGARCANE, an award-winning National Geographic documentary, powerfully addresses the horrors of a B.C. residential school.
