The numbers that made me pause and celebrate today 🎉 (and no it's not about income) On a very quick calculation this morning: of the 37 projects completed so far this year, 28 of them (about 76%) were direct clients. 76%. As a freelancer who worked almost exclusively with recruiters until last year, that's a pretty damn big deal. Don't get me wrong, I still take some work through recruiters and have built some great relationships with some of them. But diversifying my income has been a huge game changer. For the first time in my freelance career, I successfully planned for and rolled through the quiet summer period (although it didn't actually turn out to be all that quiet 😅). What this meant was I could ENJOY the downtime I got, without worrying about the next job coming in. After 6.5 years of freelancing, I'm finally in the position I wanted to be in when I made the leap. I'm working with some fab clients on really exciting decks and enjoying the flexibility I always wanted. Any other freelancers out there celebrating wins? Today, we're taking a moment to celebrate a journey that started with a simple but impactful idea: linking businesses with amazing remote talent. Over the last seven years, this vision has turned into something truly special. This milestone is a tribute to the passion, dedication, and resilience of everyone involved: → Our incredible team, who work tirelessly to bring this vision to life. → The partners who trust us to help them grow. → The talented remote professionals who make it all possible. From a small idea to a thriving community, Freelance LATAM has become more than just a company; it's a platform for empowerment, innovation, and connection. We’re proud. We’re grateful. We’re inspired. To Randy Rosales: Your leadership and faith in this mission have been key to our success. Looking back on your thoughts really reminds us why we’re here. Cheers to many more years of pushing limits and making opportunities happen! Cheers to growth, impact, and the road ahead. #FreelanceLATAM #7YearsStrong #RemoteWorkSuccess
It’s incredibly fulfilling to see how dreams take shape and materialize through dedication and hard work. A few months ago, I recorded this video reflecting on the journey of Freelance Latin America. Today, on our 7th anniversary, it feels fitting to revisit that moment—to acknowledge the road we’ve traveled and the many hands that have contributed to building this company. 🥳🙌🏻 This milestone it’s a testament to the commitment, passion, and perseverance of every single person who has been part of this journey. Freelance Latin America started with a vision: to connect businesses with exceptional talent. Seven years later, that vision has evolved into a thriving reality, empowering companies while creating meaningful opportunities for remote professionals. I am deeply thankful to our team, our clients, remote workers and everyone who has believed in this mission. Together, we’ve demonstrated that with the right talent and support, companies can grow, innovate, and thrive—no matter the distance. Thank you for being part of this story! Cheers to many more years of success and impact! 🚀🌎

🎄 All I want for Christmas? More of this 🎄 "I just met with [the external client] about project progress, and he specifically mentioned how much he enjoys working with you, how much he appreciates your speedy returns, and how wonderful your work is!" Unsolicited positive feedback is the best kind of feedback 🥰 Especially when combined with a wonderful, easy-to-work-with client, who pays on time (sometimes even early!) Its always lovely to hear that my work is well-received. As freelancers, we don't often get feedback when we are doing well, but it is always very much appreciated when we do receive it! So clients—if you work with a fabulous freelancer, don't forget to let them know how great they are before they go off for Christmas. Combine it with paying them on time, or even early, and you might just make their week 👍

Many freelancers perform poorly in the market because they talk a lot. And don't take action. I, on the other hand, tend to over-deliver. Not because I can't say no. But because it's in my nature. My clients are more than just clients. I create unique and special connections with them. I listen to them, I take an interest in them. But it's all about action. Not words. I act. I support them. I look for solutions. Even if it goes a bit beyond the scope of my assignment. Stop talking. Start acting. PS: This is the birthday cake one of my clients made for me for my 28th birthday. This visual was inspired by Dean Dempsey's comment, "Get a slice of Susie whilst you can". Working with a freelancer can bring many positives to a business, the main one being the opportunity to hire someone with decades of experience without the full-time price tag. When you partner with a freelancer, you benefit from more than the hours billed. Once my mind is engaged in your business, ideas are generated in downtime, too. It's a win-win, so both parties can have their cake and eat it. 15/75 #HireSusie #FreelancerForHire #CreativeThinking #WorkplaceCommunity #BigIdeas #FreshThinking #NewOpportunities #CommunicationStrategy #FreelancePartnership #SliceOfCake #InnovativeIdeas #75Days

Next week, I'm launching a new event series. I'm bringing together stakeholders from all levels of the freelance ecosystem to surface and solve the biggest issues facing independent work. We'll begin with a core question that all freelancers wrestle with: What makes a freelance business sustainable? Three special guests are joining me in leading this conversation: Maari Casey, Elina Jutelyte, and Anna Burgess Yang. Would you like to help us build the future of work?

Dear Freelancers, Hearing "NO" more than 10 times and still not giving up shows how resilient you are Trust me when I say I can relate. You just at a point feel like giving up But you know you can't, because you don't have any other thing to fall back on or you've promised yourself to close at least 1 next client... Freelancers are one of the least celebrated all over the world But today, I celebrate you for your resilience and I just want to let you know you are this close to closing your next client. Don't give up, Keep up with your grind! I see you and I celebrate you! PS: How has your freelancer journey been? (feel free to be vulnerable and share how it has been for you)

🎆💥 Freelancers and Contractors, listen up! 💥🎆 We’re the firecrackers of the working world—fizzing with ideas, sparking creativity, and lighting up projects all over. But some days, let’s face it, it feels like our spark just fizzles out, right? 😅 🔥 Here’s a little flare to remind you why you do what you do: 1️⃣ You’re the rocket 🚀—no boss holding you back, no ceiling in sight. Every project is another bang in the right direction! 🔥 2️⃣ Every “no” is just a sparkler 🎇—not a dead end but a new beginning. Because the best fireworks have a delayed fuse...keep building those connections, and eventually, you’re gonna light up the sky. 💫 3️⃣ When the glow feels dim, remember why you started. You’re wired for freedom, flexibility, and a schedule you control. You didn’t sign up to be anyone’s Roman candle 💥 (nope, nobody’s burning you out!). So here’s to all of us, the fuse-lighters and goal igniters. 💪 💥 Keep on sparking brilliance, sending off little kabooms in every project, and showing the world that freelancers are always the grand finale 🎆🔥💼 Keep it lit! 🚀✨
