Welcome to the Ren Spotlight series! Learning more about our tools and platform is pretty great, and if we stopped there, you would know the what and how behind our mission and vision at Ren. That’s a goal we can get behind. But we’d also like to share more about the folks who make the work we do more fun and meaningful. We want to share our individual reasons for joining this team, and being a part of this specific journey towards a more sustainable world. First up, our Head of Software Engineering, Connor Crawford. Connor is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and makes the Ren platform work (and work well). From new feature development, shaping our technical roadmap, and guiding the engineering team towards a better Ren; Connor meets every challenge with determination, optimism, and a confident humility that is rare and so appreciated throughout the team. We asked Connor, and our whole team, this question: Q: What inspired you to join Ren? How you use your talents to bring about a more sustainable world? A: Ever since I can remember, I've been fascinated by entrepreneurship and the concept of creating something meaningful from scratch. For most of my life, however, the idea of marrying sustainability with a successful business seemed elusive. I've always been eager to find a way to bridge these two passions. The primary reason for my interest in sustainability has been stated in my LinkedIn bio long before I was aware of Ren, or even met my current teammates. It's a simple yet profound reason: I want future generations to experience the beauty of our Earth as I have. I feel an obligation to pay forward the incredible gift I've received. Since joining Ren and deepening my understanding of our climate challenges and issues surrounding energy equality, my interest has transformed. English-language media momentum continues to build for the amazing Instagrid, the #German #scaleup providing a sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuel-powered generators. To coincide with the UK’s annual Clean Air Day and the publication of Instagrid’s Impact Report, Deliberate PR helped power-up an appearance for co-founder and co-CEO, Andreas Sedlmayr, on BBC News, during which he outlined how Instagrid’s tech is leading the fight against poor air quality. Co-founded by Sebastian Berning and Andreas Sedlmayr, #Stuttgart-headquartered Instagrid provides a sustainable alternative to the fossil fuel generators used to power mobile work in #construction, #film, #events and #emergencyservices, and has shipped over 30,000 units of its flagship product in 29 countries since it launched two years ago. With strong demand for clean mobile power solutions expected to continue, backed by supportive policy developments in both Europe and North America, there is a large opportunity set and a mature addressable market for Instagrid’s technology.
