Bashing an influencer marketer for their available budget is like picking up on a cashier for the store prices. They don't have any say in how budgets are allocated and spent, and especially in the early stage, they have to make do with whatever limited resources are available. Those big, shiny, fancy brands that pay 5 figures seemingly without blinking, that everyone wants to work with - STARTED THE SAME WAY. They also did barters, PR, feisty negotiation and well, everything in between. It takes 20 sec to be nice and send a template saying "thanks, we only do paid collabs at this time". I timed it. The reality is there will always be PLENTY of creators out there that do barters and gifted campaigns, and they will continue to do so...because they want to. Shocking, right? It doesn't affect the industry - on the contrary, it allows more brands than ever to tap into influencer marketing and turn their programs into a success so that...they can start paying and investing in creators. As I always say - there's room for everyone in this industry, whether some people like it or not. 😉
