Very lively and informative ETOA - European tourism association #Amsterdam working group meeting on Monday, kindly hosted by Royal Coster Diamonds. The city is losing valuable conference business due to the increase in local #Citytaxes (and national #VAT applicable to accommodation). High-end leisure tourism from river cruising is being managed down. But #Schiphol remains ones of Europe's major gateways, and the visitor economy is vital for the cultural and hospitality sectors, as well as excursions, canal cruise, retail and their collective supply chain. The travel industry is good at developing solutions, needs new product dispersed across the #Netherlands, and wants to work with public sector stakeholders to maximise mutual interest. Demand is growing and tourism is not a command economy. What does good look like? #Destination2030 Click here for more information about ETOA's working groups: https://lnkd.in/eDma-M3M amsterdam&partners NBTC Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions Centre of Expertise Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality European Exhibition Industry Alliance City Destinations Alliance | CityDNA

Creating Immersive Travel Experiences for MICE Attendees: Tourism as an Add-On MICE events offer more than just business opportunities—they’re a chance to experience a new destination! 🌍 Combining business with local tourism can make a MICE event not only productive but unforgettable. Here’s how "integrating tourism into MICE events" can benefit both attendees and host destinations: 1. Boosts Attendee Satisfaction: Providing options for local excursions, cultural tours, or culinary experiences allows attendees to unwind, recharge, and return to sessions with fresh enthusiasm. 2. Encourages Longer Stays: By offering exclusive post-event packages, organizers can encourage attendees to extend their visit, boosting tourism revenue and helping them enjoy the full destination experience. 3. Strengthens Connections: Shared tourism experiences, such as guided city tours or group dinners at local spots, create informal networking opportunities that deepen connections among attendees. 4. Promotes Local Culture: Showcasing local landmarks, crafts, or cuisine enriches the event and leaves attendees with a greater appreciation for the destination’s uniqueness. Incorporating travel and tourism into MICE events isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s a strategic way to create memorable, holistic experiences that attendees will talk about long after they leave. 🌄 What’s the best local experience you’ve had during a business trip? #MICE #BusinessTravel #Tourism #EventPlanning #AttendeeExperience #DestinationMarketing

Sporting events have long been recognized for their ability to transform destinations. Major events like the #FIFAWorldCup and the #OlympicGames attract visitors from around the globe and prompt significant infrastructure developments and cultural showcases. For instance, cities like Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro have leveraged these events to enhance urban infrastructure and global visibility, which continue to serve tourists long after the events have concluded. The allure of such events is potent; they offer a compelling reason for tourists to visit, often during off-peak seasons, thereby helping to smooth seasonal fluctuations in tourist numbers. This has been particularly effective in regions that have introduced smaller-scale sporting events like marathons and cycling tours, attracting a diverse audience and promoting year-round tourism. https://lnkd.in/evuJnEB3 #tourism #Tourisminsights #pakistan #tourismindustry #AtharJ #ecotourism #sustainabletourism #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #tourismmarketing #60seconds

The success of our proof of concept in Marseille, with 33% of independent tourists using GuideME, proves we’re on the right track. This is a huge win for #sustainable travel, and it’s just the beginning. 🌍 What excites me the most is the real-world impact we’re creating. Not only are we helping reduce overcrowding, but we're also empowering destinations with valuable data insights and an innovative digital channel to improve tourism management. With strong support from key partners like Port de Barcelona, Atout France - The France Tourism Development Agency, and Spain’s Ministry of Tourism SEGITTUR-Sociedad Mercantil Estatal para la Gestión de la Innovación y las Tecnologías Turísticas , we’re taking steps to reshape the future of tourism. If you're interested in how GuideME can make a difference in your port or destination, feel free to get in touch. I'm excited to see where this journey takes us next! 🚀 #SustainableTravel #Smartport #Overtourism #DigitalSolutions #TourismInnovation
🚩Last week marked an exciting milestone as our cofounder, Javier Méndez Roca, presented GuideME at #SeatradeCruiseMed. He showcased how GuideME is revolutionizing tourism by tackling the challenge of "invisible tourists" - those independent travellers who haven't purchased Shorex excursions - and helping destinations reconnect with them. In #Marseille, our proof of concept was a resounding success, with 33% of independent tourists using our platform. Backed by the Port de Barcelona and national tourism authorities like France's Atout France - The France Tourism Development Agency and Spain's Ministry of Tourism SEGITTUR-Sociedad Mercantil Estatal para la Gestión de la Innovación y las Tecnologías Turísticas , we're on a mission to ease overcrowding by guiding tourists sustainably. GuideME empowers destinations by enhancing their data insights and introducing an innovative digital channel to boost tourism development in capital regions. ✨️If you couldn't attend the presentation but are interested in how GuideME can serve your port or destination, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
