Not too long ago, they exited the market, and now, just a few months later, they're back with a vengeance. The Chinese F&B chains are not for the faint-hearted. With war chests filled from their successes in the domestic market, these giants are now setting their sights on the international stage. CHAGEE Singapore, though Singapore wasn't their first choice for expansion into the Asia-Pacific region, is now rapidly growing, leveraging a different strategy from their peer, LUCKIN COFFEE (SGP) PTE LTD. While CHAGEE is surpassing 4,500 units and on track to hit 5,000 soon, Luckin Coffee has just crossed a staggering 20,000 outlets. These numbers are astonishing and demonstrate the aggressive pace at which these brands are expanding. It will be interesting to see how their strategies unfold in new markets and how they navigate the challenges of internationalization. #F&B #MarketExpansion #GlobalBusiness #Chagee #LuckinCoffee #AsiaPacific #BusinessStrategy
CHAGEE is returning to Singapore this August 2024!

The presence of foreign F&B companies has been growing and in demand in Malaysia. Take Mixue as an example, it has risen to dominance in a short period of time. So what are some aspects of this phenomenon? Pros: -> Economic development: Increased foreign investment, local job opportunities, and government revenue 📈 -> Global recognition 🌍 Cons: -> Food security: Increased competition between local and foreign F&B companies -> Cultural appropriation: Risk of food acculturation That said, having foreign F&B helps grow our economy and gives us additional palate. While this might pose competition for the local scene, underlying is actually huge collaboration opportunities between local and foreign to increase local traditional food exposure and interest in their region. If you are a local F&B, this would be the best time to consider your expansion. Let’s discuss more on Malaysian consumer preferences and behaviour before you collaborate with foreign F&B: https://lnkd.in/g8Emi4Hn #marketresearch #opportunities #foodandbeverages #oppotus

As the global Muslim population continues to grow, so does the demand for halal-certified products across industries like food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. This increasing demand will drive major innovations in halal supply chain management over the coming years. We'll see dedicated halal logistics hubs, warehouses, and transportation fleets being established to physically segregate and preserve the halal status of products during distribution. Improved cold chain capabilities will be vital for halal perishables like foods and medicines. On the regulatory front, we can expect greater harmonization of halal certification standards across countries and regions. This will facilitate smoother international halal trade flows. The concept of unified "halal corridors" between major halal hubs may even emerge. In essence, the future halal supply chain will be an intelligent, integrated, and integrity-focused ecosystem enabled by technology and governed by standardized rules - all geared towards meeting the burgeoning ethical consumption needs of the global Muslim community. Please come and join us there. 😉

South Korean bakery brand Paris Baguette, under SPC Group, announced its expansion into Thailand, Brunei, and Laos. This strategic move comes through a master franchise agreement with Malaysia's Berjaya Food Group for operations in Thailand and Brunei, alongside a separate agreement with Laos' Kolao Group. The first stores in these countries are set to open in 2025, tapping into Thailand's rapidly growing bakery market, which is expanding at nearly 10% annually due to the rising popularity of Western-style cuisine. An SPC Group representative emphasized Thailand's role as a key hub for their Southeast Asian growth strategy. This expansion will extend Paris Baguette's presence to nine countries in Southeast Asia. In addition, SPC is investing in a halal-certified bakery facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, expected to commence operations by year-end, further supporting its growth in both Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Currently, Paris Baguette boasts around 590 locations across 14 countries, including the US, Canada, France, the UK, China, and Singapore. The brand's commitment to quality and innovation continues to drive its global reach.
