The Power of Wine Labels: From Marsupials to Celebrities 🍷 The influence of wine labels on non-expert buyers is undeniable, with big companies like Accolade, Treasury, and Pernod Ricard investing heavily in packaging. The design process involves focus groups, test marketing, psychologists, artists, and designers, all aiming to create labels that stand out on the shelf and attract buyers. One notable success is Yellow Tail, whose marsupial label has contributed to its status as one of Australia's top-selling export wines. 📈 Historical designs have often borrowed from successful predecessors. The original Jacob’s Creek label drew inspiration from Bordeaux’s Chateau Haut Bailly, while Mildara’s labels mirrored those of Georges Duboeuf, a renowned Beaujolais producer. Even boutique wineries like Moss Wood and Sorrenberg took cues from prestigious Bordeaux and Chablis labels, respectively. These strategies highlight the importance of visual appeal and brand recognition in the wine industry. 📱 Modern wine labels tell a story, resonating with contemporary consumers. The 19 Crimes brand, for instance, has gained immense popularity in the US with its labels featuring early Australian criminals. Each bottle's QR code allows consumers to hear the stories behind the crimes, creating an engaging experience. Celebrity endorsements also play a crucial role, with rapper Snoop Dogg boosting 19 Crimes’ sales and Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo lending his name to Pernod Ricard’s reds. 🎨 Not all wineries follow the high-budget route. Some small, family-owned wineries opt for labels designed with personal touches, often appearing amateurish yet charming. This contrast in design approaches underscores the diverse strategies within the wine industry, from leveraging psychology and star power to embracing authenticity and simplicity. #WineIndustry #LabelDesign #MarketingStrategies #AustralianWine #WineLabels

A cat-fluencer walks into a winery. (No, this isn't a joke.) According to a winery we visited, a guest recently showed up with their Instagram-famous, high-fiving cat for a wine tasting. When the cat began to meow excessively, it became clear it was time for them to leave. They've had guests show up with birds, too! Now, the winery asks guests ahead of time if they intend to bring a pet, allowing for necessary adjustments. It seems we as a society are losing our grip on reality. Yet, it begs the question: How do we adapt? P.S. We’ve certainly had our share of odd requests and surprise guests. Your thoughts? #PublicRelations #PetInfluencers #SocialMedia #BusinessEtiquette
