Investigative reporter and documentary producer at WRAL.

"How do you come up with your documentary topics?" It’s a question I get all the time, and my answer is always the same: if you tackle the most important issues, the stories remain relevant, and there’s always an opportunity to follow up. Tonight’s big update on one of our WRAL documentaries is a perfect example. 🚨 Major Development 🚨 For the past two years, the WRAL Doc Unit has been pushing for answers about ReBuild NC, the state agency tasked with helping victims of Hurricanes Matthew and Florence rebuild their homes. After years of delays, with 1,600 storm survivors still waiting to return home, and a $300 million deficit reported earlier this week, Laura Hogshead, the head of ReBuild NC, is officially out of a job. The clip below is from our Aftermath documentary, where we asked the critical question two years ago: Why was she still in charge despite the agency's ongoing failures? This update highlights why investigative journalism and storytelling through documentaries matter. It’s about accountability, impact, and making sure important stories don’t get buried. #WRAL #Documentary #HurricaneRecovery #InvestigativeJournalism
