Biodiversity is also a concern for the business sector, creating opportunities for public-private collaboration for the sustainable development of Chile. As Environment Minister Maisa Rojas (Ministerio del Medio Ambiente) points out, companies are incorporating biodiversity conservation 'at the core of their business.' Examples include CMPC, ARAUCO, and SQM, some of the Chilean companies that presented their experiences and commitments with the 'Chile Business Action Plan on Biodiversity' at #COP16 in Colombia. We’re delighted to see First News spotlighting International Animal Rescue’s work on the front lines of biodiversity protection. Our partners in Borneo, Costa Rica, and beyond, are fighting to restore habitats and protect endangered species, from planting mangroves to rehabilitating animals like monkeys and orangutans. 🐒🌱 It can be hard to see how we can make a difference, but as our CEO, Gavin Bruce, says: "Even the smallest steps we take can have a big impact. If we all think carefully before we buy, every purchase can help create a more nature-friendly world." For young readers, this message is especially powerful. Whether it’s rethinking single-use plastics, choosing sustainable products, or learning about the incredible species sharing our planet, each choice matters. We’re all part of the solution, no matter our age. 🌎✨ Thank you, First News, for sharing this story of hope with 2.6 million young people across the UK. Together, we’re showing that everyone can make a difference! #Biodiversity #ClimateAction #InternationalAnimalRescue #YouthEmpowerment #SmallStepsBigImpact #COP29 #HopeForTheFuture

The #MontpellierProcess is coming to #COP16Colombia! 🗣️ Join the “Pooling Collective Intelligence for Action” side event 📍 CBD Pavilion (Blue Zone) 📅 25 October ⏰ 1:20–2:40 PM (COT) The knowledge-to-action interfacing community will be blending perspectives that make the potential of the Montpellier Process compelling: its ability to unlock local-to-global-to-local action for impact. 🔓🌎 The Montpellier Process believe the Feed–Care–Protect nexus challenges will only be addressed when agri-food systems solutions are applied. Food systems transformation best contributes to sustainable development when aligned to the Global Biodiversity Framework and targets, just as the targets will only be met if they are incorporated into food systems strategies and pathways. This takes effective and inclusive science–policy–society interfacing spaces, starting from where the implementers are, so that knowledge communities can play an authentic role. The Montpellier Process makes this possible. Find out more ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gSrSbfjZ #MPCOP16 #DeliberateDialogue #FeedCareProtect

Consumption and biodiversity are intricately linked. According to the World Economic Forum, around 55% of global GDP is moderately or highly dependent on nature. But the rate of our consumption takes an enormous toll on our planet – depleting resources, destroying habitats and accelerating deforestation. 🌍 At #COP16, we're focussed on driving action towards Target 16 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which aims at delivering a transformative change of consumption systems to reduce their global footprint. In our role as co-lead of the One Planet network - 10YFP’s Consumer Information Programme, we contributed towards a policy brief outlining essential levers and policy recommendations to drive transformative change, with a focus on delivering sustainable food systems. ➡ Swipe to see our recommendations and read the brief here: https://lnkd.in/eTQm8Nwc ➡ More on our work: https://lnkd.in/eeuHa6mW Bundesamt für Naturschutz, One Planet network - 10YFP

During this upcoming event by Partners for Water and IUCN NL, our colleague Femke van Woesik presents insights from our project, "𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀" in Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand, India. 🌱 We’ll be focusing on the restoration and strategic use of 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀, once a key feature of India's agricultural landscapes. These hedgerows provided valuable ecosystem services, including erosion control, windbreaks, and supporting 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆. But, with the rise of agricultural intensification, these semi-natural habitats are vanishing at an alarming rate. It’s time to bring back their benefits—hedgerows can enhance 𝘀𝗼𝗶𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, act as 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀, and play a crucial role in sustaining 𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀. By reintegrating these natural structures, we aim for more resilient agricultural practices and healthier ecosystems. COP16 (Conference of the Parties) is where global leaders come together to address climate action. But why does it matter for flowers? Floriculture relies on stable climates, clean water, and healthy soils—all impacted by climate change. Florverde Sustainable Flowers plays a key role at #COP16 by showcasing how sustainable flower farming can reduce environmental impact with practices like water conservation, pesticide reduction, and biodiversity promotion. Florverde-certified farms are proving that floriculture can be both profitable and sustainable. By participating in global discussions, Florverde helps set new standards for the future of sustainable agriculture. This conference is a chance for industries like floriculture to make real progress in the fight against climate change, and Florverde is leading the way. #FSF #FlorverdeSustainableFlowers #ClimateAction #SustainableAgriculture COP16 Colombia, Daniela España.
