Well done Michelle Knowles, totally agree with you that creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is crucial for a company's longevity, not just in terms of attracting talent, but also for business efficiency, success, and profitability. We are fortunate to work at Absa Corporate and Investment Banking where the focus on creating an inclusive and diverse environment is paramount. As female leaders we have to "lift as you rise," which means that we should actively support young leaders in their journeys and not "kick the ladder down" once we have achieved certain milestones in our careers. I am firm believer of #liftasyouclimb.

At the 2024 Digital & Financial Inclusion Summit, Auma Margaret, Chairperson of the Elegu Women Cross-Border Traders’ Co-op Society, shared key challenges faced by informal women cross-border traders. She highlighted issues such as limited access to digital financial services, the absence of banking facilities in Elegu forcing women to travel to Gulu, and high mobile money charges. Auma emphasized the urgent need for affordable smartphones, digital literacy training, and establishing a fully-fledged bank in Elegu to bridge financial gaps and empower women traders.
