When Less is More? In the era of big data, it is often the case that only a subsample is good enough to obtain statistical efficiency as good as that is based on the full sample. This can be achieved by choosing an appropriate amount of most influential observations via the entropy method. The idea reinforces the popular Sanskrit phrase "Ati Sarvatra Varjayet" meaning excess of anything be avoided, which is so true in life when we are bombarded with superficial data and information!!
