Happy Wednesday, everyone. I just spent the last several days with Bob Burton and NC DEFTECH at the 2024 Federal Technology Symposium. As an enlisted Marine and a veteran, it was really encouraging to see how hard the defense industry and the DOD, Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps are working to figure out how to get new technologies into the hands of the warfighters and those supporting them. I'm sure the Navy is doing the same things, they just didn't have a formal representative there. I learned something really interesting yesterday. There are software developers in uniform in the Army today. It isn't their primary MOS (yet), but there is an Army Software Factory (WOW!) that trains soldiers to write code. How amazing is that? I was able to connect with great people like Jeffrey Thomas, Diana Little, Aditya Handa, and Dustin LaTour. I learned a bit about how each of them is contributing to the overall mission of the DoD and the US Government. Jeff's work with Army Futures command is literally next-generation stuff. Diana's company is developing really interesting logistics solutions. Aditya is plugged into DHS (as are we). And Dustin has some of the coolest wireless tech that I've seen in a long time. I'm glad that Bob invited me and that I took him up on his offer. What Rafay does is applicable to government and defense applications just like with private sector organizations, the only difference is the literal applications of the business outcomes of the systems and platforms that our technology would help simplify, standardize and accelerate. We accelerate the adoption and delivery of cloud-native technologies. We accelerate the adoption and delivery of AI/ML capabilities to solve for strategic initiatives. We're already doing it inside of the Federal government. We want to do more. #genai #gpuacceleration #mlworkbench #mlopaas #aiopsaas #nvidia #jupyter #machinelearning

For those who still think #sxsw2024 is only a Willie, weed and music event think again. In two days we’ve heard Doug Beck, Director, Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), the #SECARMY (Christine Wormuth) and GEN Rainey speak about innovation adoption, deep tech, novel tech and importance of all three as it relates to the #usarmy and joint force’s competitive advantage vis-à-vis our adversaries. Good to see Doug Beck at ribbon cutting of the Joint Innovation Center of Gravity in the Capital Factory. We are at the dawn of disruption in the defense sector. More and more nontraditional defense companies and startups are nipping at the traditional defense primes. The barriers to entry are being mitigated by deliberate government policy and law. Primes would be wise to heed and adjust to the shift. Unlocking the Potential of AI in Defense: Beyond its well-known roles in strategy, offence, and defence, AI is pivotal in enhancing human operational performance. By leveraging AI's strengths, in partnership with US Army DEVCOM, we can efficiently scan OSINT to uncover relevant trends and innovations. This collaboration helps distill vast internet data into manageable insights, allowing humans to excel in decision-making – a true "human-machine teaming." What's also great about this engagement is seeing a UK SME collaborating with US Defence (Defense) - it's so key to the future strength of NATO that the industrial base, with their innovations that can scale, is there to work with all the member states and not just their sovereign ones. This versatile, dual-use AI tool can service not only defence, but also other industries by finding needles in the haystack with the efficiency only AI can bring. I’m excited to see this capability integrated into the #Collective suite of secure AI solutions by Team Whitespace. #AI #Innovation #Defense #HumanMachineTeaming #TeamWhitespace Hugh W. 🎖️ Honoring Our U.S. Air Force Veterans: Aim High, Fly, Fight, Win 🎖️ Since its establishment in 1947, the United States Air Force has played a crucial role in defending our nation and ensuring our safety from the skies. Born from a commitment to innovation and excellence, the Air Force has evolved into a formidable branch of the military, known for its advanced technology and strategic capabilities. Today, Air Force veterans carry forward this legacy of service and dedication, impacting both our national security and the civilian world. As we celebrate our veterans, we focus on the incredible men and women of the U.S. Air Force. Their motto, "Aim High, Fly, Fight, Win," embodies not just their commitment to serving our nation, but also their dedication to excellence in every endeavor they pursue—even beyond their military careers. Many Veterans carry their spirit of service into the civilian world as entrepreneurs, contributing significantly to our economy. In fact, nearly 1 in 10 small business owners in the U.S. is a veteran, showcasing their leadership, discipline, and innovation. These skills are invaluable as they navigate the challenges of starting and growing their own businesses. For those transitioning to civilian life and considering entrepreneurship, numerous resources are available to help veterans succeed. Programs like the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Veterans Business Development offer mentorship, training, and funding opportunities tailored specifically for veterans. Additionally, organizations like SCORE provide free business mentoring and workshops to guide veterans on their entrepreneurial journeys. At Kaleidoscope Affect, we recognize the sacrifices made by our Air Force veterans and are committed to supporting their continued service through entrepreneurship. Your resilience and drive inspire us all, and we are proud to stand with you as you embark on this exciting new chapter. To all our Air Force veterans: thank you for your service and for your commitment to excellence. Let’s continue to aim high and support each other in achieving our goals!
