SCTS 2024 | “Minimally Invasive and Endoscopic AF Ablation” With Timo Weimar | At the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery Annual Meeting 2024, Professor Timo Weimar presented "Minimally Invasive and Endoscopic AF Ablation." In his presentation, he discussed access limitations in minimally invasive surgery and the fact that access needs to follow optimal therapy to deliver the acceptable current standard of care. He highlighted the importance of using the appropriate procedure for the right patient and not sacrificing the right procedure just for the incision. https://ow.ly/6P9h50SZLiO

EXTENDED ENDONASAL ENDOSCOPIC SURGERY: "REAL-TIME NEURONAVIGATION TECHNOLOGY" Skull base tumors that require minimally invasive surgery such as the endoscopic endonasal approach require cutting-edge technology to perform surgeries as complex as in this case a giant craniopharyngioma. The neurosurgeon's expertise, anatomical knowledge and advanced technology guarantee a better prognosis of survival or cure in such complex pathologies. #craniopharyngioma,#endoscopicendonasalsurgery,#minimalinvasivesurgery

The areas and diseases in which minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery is performed are expanding day by day. I would like to share with great pleasure that our article, which also includes our surgical videos, has been published in @JTCVS Surgical Tech, showing that right anterior mini thoracotomy is feasible and safe in ascending aortic surgery. "ISMICS 2024 | Transaxillary Aortic Valve Replacement" | At the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery Annual Scientific Meeting 2024, Marco Di Eusanio presented “Transaxillary Aortic Valve Replacement.” In his presentation, he discussed sternum sparing approaches and benefits of the transaxillary approach for aortic valve replacement. He also explored a recent infra-axillary minithoracotomy for minimally invasive aortic valve replacement surgery, showing clips from the procedure and the operative date. 🔗https://ow.ly/EpEr50Ufpcq #CTSurgery

💡 The 82-year-old patient presented with severe symptomatic secondary atrial tricuspid regurgitation due to atrial fibrillation. Nine years ago, he underwent cardiac surgery with replacement of the ascending aorta and the aortic valve. 💔 After discussing the case with the cardiac team, the patient was offered an interventional procedure due to his previous heart surgery and advanced age. A minimally invasive transcatheter valve replacement (TTVR) was performed using the Evoque valve. ❔ What has been your experience with this procedure? #CardiacSurgery #TricuspidRegurgitation #Evoque #TTVR #CatchOfTheWeek12 Prof. Dr. med. Massimo Baudo, MD (pictured), is lead author of a review article finding transcatheter valve-in-valve (ViV-TAVI) intervention can be considered in selected patients who have structural valve deterioration after aortic root replacement surgery. When considering ViV-TAVI, unique technical challenges need to be carefully addressed based on the characteristics of the previous surgery and computed tomography analysis, according to the authors. 💔 Robotic-assisted surgery has revolutionized what's possible in minimally invasive procedures, even for complex redo cardiac surgeries. In this case, a 54-year-old man with severe mitral regurgitation following previous cardiac surgery underwent a successful robotic-assisted mitral valve repair. 🔗 Check out the full case report: https://lnkd.in/exNvVFPw 💯 We would be delighted to use the new da Vinci in cardiac surgery in Europe. #RoboticAssistedCardiacSurgery #MitralValve #MMCTS Andrea Amabile, James Antonios, Michael LaLonde, MHA, PA-C, Syed Usman Bin Mahmood, Wei-Guo Ma, Prof. Dr. med. Did you know, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) is a type of minimally invasive surgery (introduced in the early 90's) for diagnosing/treating many thoracic conditions, including #lungcancer. It’s performed using a tiny tube w/a small video camera at the end. #LCSM #IASLC50
