Life Science Sweden Bioscience Conference, the 12th annual edition of this international scientific event, will take place on Thursday 7 November. Professor Johan Rockberg from KTH Royal Institute of Technology will guide participants through the event, which will address major challenges and the latest research findings. 🔬 💊 RISE Research Institutes of Sweden researchers Jenny Blomqvist, Senior Analytical Scientist specialising in biologics development, and Lina Nyström, Formulation Scientist and Project Manager, will present "Pitfalls along the drug development path". The presentation will cover lessons learned during biopharmaceutical drug development, how early planning can prevent costly delays, exploration of formulation strategies, stability testing and analytical method development, supported by real-world examples from both research and commercial projects. "We see a trend where stability and process challenges discovered at later stages of drug development cause longer delays than if the same issue had been addressed earlier in the process," says Jenny Blomqvist. #News: Evotec announced further progress of the company’s strategic partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb relating to building a #molecularglue-based pipeline, triggering a $75 million performance-based and program-based milestone payment to #Evotec.   Initiated in 2018, the partnership combines Evotec’s high-performance #multiomics #screening and #analytics capabilities with #BristolMyersSquibb’s library of #cereblon #E3 #ligasemodulators (CELMoDs). Expanded in 2022, the partnership continues to identify #novelmoleculargluedegraders, targeting high-value targets in the field of #oncology and beyond.    Dr. Cord Dohrmann, Chief Scientific Officer of Evotec, said, “Bristol Myers Squibb is leading the industry in the field of molecular glue degraders, which is clearly one of the most exciting emerging therapeutic modalities. Back during my PhD, I had the chance to work on a fascinating project with the FDA, focusing on how we understand and evaluate topical drug formulations, from their structure to their performance. Now, the last papers from this project have been published, bringing together our results in three comprehensive studies: 📰 Paper 1: Explores the application of confocal Raman microscopy for characterising semisolid drug products and their interaction with human skin. 📰 Paper 2: Investigates critical quality attributes of acyclovir creams and how they influence cutaneous bioavailability. 📰 Paper 3: Illustrates the effect of packaging configurations on the performance of topical creams. Spoiler: dispensing methods can lead to metamorphosis of the product, potentially altering bioavailability! This work has been a long journey, and I’m incredibly grateful for the collaboration and support from everyone involved.
