Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, DCGI, CDSCO highlighted the importance of disseminating MedTech Mitra initiative’s progress among the public. He said “MedTech Mitra initiative has gained remarkable progress since its launch. This flagship initiative can introduce a paradigm shift in MedTech ecosystem from “volume to values of innovations”, to meet evolving healthcare needs. The initiative has a great potential towards making India a net exporter of medical devices and diagnostics.” Mission Director Atal Innovation Mission Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, highlighted the significance of the meeting during his address. He said, “The 20th MedTech Mitra TAC Meeting represents a crucial milestone in our ongoing effort to support MedTech innovators. By facilitating robust discussions and providing comprehensive guidance, we aim to drive impactful advancements in medical devices technology. Additionally, we are excited to unveil the 6th edition of Innovations for You, which celebrates the exceptional contributions of Indian innovators in Life Sciences and Biotechnology.” The meeting was followed by the launch of AIM’s 6th edition of ‘Innovations for You’ coffee table book. The book highlights 50 pioneering entrepreneurs incubated under the various Atal Incubation Centres spread across the country, who are driving change through their contributions in Life Sciences and Biotechnology. Held at the Cicada HealthTech Hub in Westmead, this event celebrated the groundbreaking achievements of our residents and the future of healthcare in Australia. Our resident startups stole the show, presenting their cutting-edge health solutions to a panel of investors and the wider audience. These seven innovative ventures showcased their potential to revolutionise healthcare:  Dr Jeremy K. from iiShield discussed how his innovative tech ‘the KidneyPJ’, is a single-use, thermoprotective device that prolongs transplant procedure time by preventing kidney warming, enhancing surgical conditions, and improving transplant outcomes. Meanwhile, James Reilly, from Latent Knowledge, outlined how their AI-driven research platform connects users with relevant literature, enhancing R&D outcomes through advanced natural language processing and visualisation techniques. Alison Williams, from Outcomes Nutrition Tummily, is making waves with an AI-driven tool for IBS management. Tummily offers personalised nutrition guidance and equips healthcare providers with tailored meal plans and actionable patient insights. Philip Crealy from High Fidelity Orthopaedics is driving Innovative orthopaedic solutions to provide advanced, patient-matched implants and precision instruments to improve outcomes, streamline procedures, and enable efficient, high-quality surgical care. Joanne Cooper,  from World Data Exchange, is creating a platform empowering individuals to control and securely share personal healthcare data, enabling consent-driven, transparent exchanges between users, providers, and organisations worldwide. Bruce Allan, from Triggar Media is creating immersive digital health solutions that leverage VR and AR to create tools for therapy, recovery, and patient engagement, transforming healthcare experiences. And finally, Professor John Iredell and Dr Muhammad Kamruzzaman from Plasmid Therapy are developing affordable probiotic-based oral therapies to restore antibiotic effectiveness, combat antibiotic resistance, and address a looming global health and economic crisis. The momentum in the Upper Rhine Valley’s health tech ecosystem continues to build, driving impactful innovations that bridge academia, industry, and entrepreneurship. 💡 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 B. Braun Group’s CDO Michael Lauk set the tone with a forward-looking keynote, providing industry perspectives on navigating healthcare challenges with technology and data-driven solutions. It was fascinating to get a glimpse into the world of a pioneering leader and visionary - Prof. Yitzhak Kreiss, CEO of Sheba, who is leading an adaptive strategic change and practically transforming medical centers into economic growth engines by embedding DNA for the development of transformation, innovation, and technological entrepreneurship, while deeply connecting with the international high-tech industry ecosystem. Under his leadership and that of Prof. Eyal Zimlichman, CEO of ARC, Sheba has become a global impact on healthcare, working on investments and integrating startups into professional activities in hospitals worldwide, establishing a center for integrating generative artificial intelligence in medicine, developing the future hospital in the Negev, and more. On Thursday, I attended the annual international conference of ARC Innovation , the innovation and entrepreneurship center of Sheba Medical Center, which was filled with moments of hope, innovation, creativity, and Israeli pride in the world of Health-Tech. The data presented at the conference gives reason for optimism regarding the leading engine of the economy. Israeli high-tech proves resilience. The CEO of Israel Innovation Authority and the CEO of Startup Nation Central noted that despite Israel being at war, we experienced only a slight decrease in investments, and Israel still leads in R&D investment as a percentage of GDP, standing at 6.1%. The number of startups in the Health Tech field is particularly high, but the investment rate is lower compared to other investment areas due to the high risk. The conference leaders called for increased investments in Health-Tech companies because the ROI on successful companies is significantly higher.
