This transformative program, designed in partnership with HBCUs, is truly a groundbreaking initiative that empowers BIPOC students by connecting emerging talent with industry leaders. I am deeply honored to have been selected by Spelman College for this life-changing opportunity. It’s surprising how many creatives and non-creatives don’t realize they already have the power and resources to build buzz and spark interest around their business. People often ask if there’s a secret blueprint, but I don’t believe in shortcuts that last. I say this to free creatives from making excuses for not taking off. Once they understand it’s in their hands, it’s a whole new game. Leverage the technology at your fingertips to level the playing field. If you can expand your reach and showcase your talent, gatekeepers can no longer keep you out.”

You may have heard the old adage, “if it doesn’t jingle, it doesn’t count.” To be a truly effective and sought-after leader at any stage of your career, you must have an understanding of “cash flow.” Cash flow is the lifeblood of any business. It’s not the reason for existence, but it’s a requirement for living. You can’t achieve your goals of helping your customers and community without it. That doesn’t mean you’re purely chasing profits in a ruthless way. Think of a family member who’s invested money in or uses the services your company offers. Knowing exactly how you and your team are creating value—either by reducing costs or increasing revenues—is job one for any leader. Even if your role isn’t customer-facing, try to quantify how you're creating value for your internal customers, so you can prioritize where to focus your efforts. Once you have a deep understanding of your place in this process, you’ll be better positioned to drive innovation and positive outcomes for yourself, your team and the entire company.
