Echocardiography of a four-year-old cat with ascites revealed a large, occlusive thrombus in the right pulmonary artery. The initial examination showed right heart enlargement, spontaneous contrast in the right atrium, and the presence of a thrombus in the right pulmonary artery. Subsequent ultrasound images after ten days indicated successful thrombolysis, with complete resolution of the initial cardiac modifications.

Coronary angiography is an invasive examination in which a cardiac catheter is delivered to the root of the aorta via the radial artery, femoral artery, or brachial artery (most commonly via the radial artery), inserted into the left and right coronary artery orifices, and contrast agent is injected to visualize the coronary arteries and their main branches.

So good talking with Janarthanan Sathananthan, MD, FSCAI and learning about drug-coated balloons' potential to revolutionize in-stent restenosis treatment in the US. Check it out!
Drug-coated balloons have been a go-to option for in-stent restenosis for over a decade, but U.S. patients and physicians have historically been limited to other, often inferior, treatments. That changed with the FDA approval of Boston Scientific’s AGENT™ Drug-Coated Balloon. Learn more about the AGENT™ Drug-Coated Balloon’s proven ability to treat ISR, and its potential impact in the U.S., in this Cardiac Wire Show interview with Boston Scientific’s chief medical officer for Interventional Cardiology Therapies, Janarthanan Sathananthan, MD, FSCAI. https://lnkd.in/ggTiaauA

Interesting results- no complex lesions can be effectivelly treated under QCA guidance…
GUIDE-DES: Quantitative coronary #angiography vs intravascular ultrasonography to guide drug-eluting stent implantation The trial aimed to establish the non-inferiority of QCA-guided PCI compared to #IVUS-guided PCI with respect to the primary endpoint of TLF at 12 months, defined as a composite of cardiac death, target vessel MI, or ischemia-driven target lesion revascularization. Exercise is once again highlighted as being closely associated with cardiovascular outcomes. 🫀🏃🏋️♀️ It’s getting hard to ignore how dangerous a sedentary lifestyle (or lack of exercise) truly is to one’s health. #healthcare, #exercise, #workout, #weightlifting, #running, #hospital, #cardiology, #epeeps
HCM is widely underdiagnosed, but the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association hope their new guidelines can help cardiologists learn more about the potentially fatal condition and improve patient care. Multiple other industry groups, including the Heart Rhythm Society and Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance | SCMR, contributed to the final document.
