🇸🇪 CYBER RANGES is proud to report on the very positive conclusion of the Nordic Cyber Quest hosted by Blekinge Institute of Technology a.k.a. BLEKINGE TEKNISKA HÖGSKOLA (BTH) and held this week (Nov. 6th 2024). BTH’s Nordic Cyber Quest marks the start of operations for BTH’s Cyber Range, powered by CYBER RANGES and deployed on premises in #Karlskrona, #Sweden. BTH’s ground-breaking facility is going to train #cybersecurity experts against the digital #threats of today and tomorrow. During the Nordic #CyberQuest 57 participants in 11 teams among BTH students as well as representatives from #telecom and security companies, local government and the Swedish Armed Forces engaged in simulation-based exercises. "It is an incredibly important investment to prepare our students for reality" says BTH's Dr. Anders Carlsson, who is the driving force behind the training facility. "In addition to a unique training environment for students, the facility will also be used in research to develop new strategies and tools that are required to stay one step ahead of future threats. Companies and cyber security professionals can also use the facility to practice digital attacks and develop their strategies in a secure environment." 🔍 Exciting news from Trusted Science and Technology! They've been awarded $249,975 by the United States Department of Defense through the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. This funding will support their innovative project on Cyber Vulnerability Assessment via Semantic Reasoning and Tiered Visualization, also known as CELESTE. This project aims to enhance cybersecurity measures by utilizing advanced semantic reasoning techniques and visual tools to identify and mitigate potential threats. 🚀 This award is part of the Small Technology Transfer Research Program Phase I, highlighting the importance of experimental development in the field. The project will span approximately 5 months, starting on July 3, 2024, and concluding on January 2, 2025. It was exciting and incredibly insightful at the Cyber Research Institute summit, by the Texas A&M Global Cyber Research Institute and Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). Here are some highlights 📝 that stood out to me: 1. 🏅 Keynote on Sandie’s Digital Assurance for High Consequence Systems by Ann N. Campbell and Lance Hutchinson. 2. 🧠 Dr. Rafail Ostrovsky’s keynote on advances in Zero-Knowledge proofs and their applications. 3. 📝 Engaging panel discussions on Cyber in Defense, Health and Tech sectors. It was great to see experts in academia, industry and government coming together to tackle these crucial issues. It is clear the Cybersecurity landscape is evolving rapidly, and events like these are crucial for staying ahead of the curve. I’m excited to apply these learnings in my own work! I am excited to share the successful completion of the latest cybersecurity evaluation for the Goldilock Drawbridge, which I helped to orchestrate in collaboration with Proof Labs at the Space ISAC Cyber Vulnerability Lab. In May 2024, Proof Labs delivered a comprehensive assessment report to Goldilock. The outstanding results will help enhance the design and security features of the unique powerful device known as the "Drawbridge." This project was a significant collaborative effort, and I extend my sincere thanks to the supporting partners for making it a success: The Aerospace Corporation for allowing us to use their "Dark Sky" cyber range to deploy the hardware and establish the virtual test environment. Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), a government research lab, for providing offensive operators. Space ISAC for hosting the Proof Labs team to coordinate and run the remote test events. University of Colorado Colorado Springs for providing technical support.
