Today, Earlybird Health medtech portfolio company Alesi Surgical Ltd announced FDA 510k clearance for its minimally-invasive surgery product, the IonPencil, which incorporates Alesi’s Ultravision technology platform. 🩺 Each year, over 20 million open surgeries produce surgical smoke in the US alone, posing significant health risks due to infection and long-term exposure to toxic particles. Surgeons are increasingly required to manage this smoke, but traditional methods, such as suction-based smoke evacuators and electrosurgical “smoke pencils”, leave room for improvement. The slimline, tubing-free, and silent IonPencil offers an innovative alternative. With this latest clearance, Alesi’s Ultravision2 system is now approved for all open, laparoscopic, and robotic procedures that generate surgical smoke in the US and other FDA-recognised countries. 🌟 Furthermore, Alesi has raised an additional £5 million in funding from new investor Mercia Ventures and existing investors. Congratulations to Dominic Griffiths and the entire Alesi team! ✍️ For more details, check out Jim Hammerand’s article on MassDevice at https://bit.ly/3TB4QWd 👀 Plus, find the PR at https://bit.ly/47zcUfL Cc: IP Group plc, Panakes Partners, Development Bank of Wales, Thom Rasche, Dr. Christoph Massner #MedicalDevice #Healthcare #Surgery #PatientOutcomes

Lishan Aklog, MD, AdvaMed Board Member and CEO of PAVmed Inc., testified in front of the House Committee on Small Business urging Congress and the Administration to consider the consequences to life-saving #medtech and patient access if the EPA's proposed rules on ethylene oxide (EtO) are finalized as written. In his testimony, Dr. Aklog described some of the life-saving #medtech he has developed, including a device that treats heart valve infections without the need for highly invasive surgery. Disruptions to adequate EtO sterilization could have dire consequences for patients who rely on these technologies. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ei7dZwjY

Building Solid Medical Data Exchange: Governance, Interoperability, and Infrastructure In today’s rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, seamless data sharing is more important than ever. During a recent HIMSS24 APAC session, Monief Eid from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health emphasized the crucial role of governance, interoperability, and solid infrastructure in health information exchange, especially when handling complex medical imaging. At MyRxWallet, we couldn’t agree more. Our platform is designed to tackle these very challenges by integrating AI, Web3, and blockchain technologies to ensure secure, tamper-proof, and interoperable data exchange across healthcare systems. Here’s how we’re addressing the key components mentioned by Eid: Governance: From the outset, governance is baked into our blockchain architecture, ensuring compliance, security, and patient consent management, which are critical for smooth data exchange. Interoperability: Just as Eid pointed out, exchanging structured data (like DICOM) is essential for efficient medical analysis. MyRxWallet allows seamless data flow between healthcare providers, making sure all formats are accessible and usable, preventing data silos. Infrastructure: Handling vast amounts of data, such as medical images, requires a robust infrastructure. Our platform is built to scale, ensuring efficient and secure data sharing—even for complex clinical studies—while keeping patients in control. At MyRxWallet, we believe in empowering both patients and providers with a transparent, interoperable, and secure data exchange ecosystem. Let’s continue driving innovation in healthcare data sharing! #Healthcare #DataSecurity #Interoperability #Blockchain #Web3 #AI #HealthIT #MyRxWallet #DigitalHealth
