📝 At the 2024 NSW Local Government elections electors in Federation council will be given a ‘poll’ ballot paper to complete, in addition to their Councillor ballot paper. You will be asked three questions: 1️⃣ Do you believe that the forced amalgamation by the State Government in 2016 was a mistake? 2️⃣ Should the State Government compensate ratepayers for the ongoing costs of the amalgamation? 3️⃣ Do you support that Council should approach the State Government to guarantee representation for the former Urana Shire? Each question requires a “Yes” or a “No” answer. If you decide to answer “Yes” to one of the questions, place a tick in the square next to the word “Yes”. If you decide to vote “No” to a question, place a tick in the square next to the word “No”. Do the same for each question. The result of a council poll is determined by a majority of the votes cast. Voting in a council poll is not compulsory for electors and the result is not binding on the council. 👉Learn more about the 2024 Council Elections https://ow.ly/a5xW50Tajhb For more election information visit https://ow.ly/894X50Tajnu or call the NSW Electoral Commission on 1300 135 736. #federationcouncil #2024councilelections #creatingopportunity #celebratingcommunity

Our latest report exposes how election-denying groups are exploiting voter eligibility challenge laws to undermine confidence in the integrity of voter rolls. The report found that mass voter eligibility challenges: ▶️Are Almost Always Rejected ▶️Rely on Flawed Data ▶️Overwhelm Elections Officials ▶️Intimidate Voters ▶️Discourage Voting While there are many safeguards in place to help block many mass voter challenges, they still erode public trust in the legitimacy of our elections and sow seeds of doubt in the outcomes slated for November. 🌟 Did you know? The popular vote refers to the total number of votes cast by individual citizens in an election, as opposed to the votes cast by elected representatives or electoral bodies. 🗳️✨ In many elections, including presidential and local, the candidate who receives the most votes from the public wins. The popular vote is a key component of democratic systems, reflecting the direct will of the people. However, in some elections, like the U.S. presidential election, the popular vote is used in conjunction with an electoral system to determine the winner. Understanding the popular vote helps us see how individual votes contribute to the outcome of elections and influence political representation. Know your power! 🗳️ #PopularVote #Civics101 #TheFUNManifesto
