Architects, more 3D (or 2D) in renderings don't mean better visuals. Your project is unique, and so should your visualization approach. Recently I've been asked, "Do you go full 3D or prefer matte painting?" I get this question a lot. At The Big Picture, our answer is simple: "It depends." We believe good archviz isn't about sticking to one method. It's about what works best for the project and the client. Some projects shine with a stunning backplate for matte painting. Others need deep 3D modeling. No photos? No problem. We dive into 3D, adding touches in post-production. We don't just pick a style. We analyze. We adapt. Our goal is to match the project's unique voice and the client's vision. Every project has its story. Our job as 3D artists is to tell it in the best light possible. P.S. Do your projects lean more towards 3D modeling or matte painting? /// Hi, I'm Federico, archviz tutor and director at The Big Picture. Since 2014, I've helped architects and developers bring ideas to life through visuals. 🤝 Follow or connect for more archviz insights! ♻ Repost if you find this helpful!

Understanding the Basics of 3D Modeling for Designers To understand the basics of 3D modeling, designers should focus on several key concepts and steps: 1. Key Concepts: Familiarize yourself with essential terms such as: •Vertices: Points in space that define the corners of your model. •Edges: Lines connecting vertices. •Faces: Flat surfaces formed by edges. •Meshes: Collections of faces that create a 3D shape. 2. Choosing Software: Select user-friendly software to start with: •#Blender: A powerful, free tool suitable for comprehensive modeling. •SketchUp: Ideal for beginners focusing on simpler designs. 3. Understanding Workflows: Follow a structured workflow: •Conceptualizing: Plan your model by considering its appearance, features, and scale. •Modeling: Create the basic shape using simple geometric forms. •Sculpting: Refine your model by adding details and textures. •#Texturing & Materials: Apply colors and patterns to enhance realism. •Lighting & #Rendering: Set up lighting to produce a final image or #animation. 4. Practice and Community Engagement: Regular practice is crucial. Start with simple projects and gradually increase complexity. Engage with online communities for feedback and support. By mastering these fundamentals, designers can effectively create and manipulate 3D models, enhancing their design capabilities. #d #dmodeling #dart #blender #dmodel #dprinting #design #render #rendering #art #dartist #drender #digitalart #ddesign #architecture #zbrush #dprint #cgi #dprinter #interiordesign #dsmax #c #danimation #cinema #dprinted #animation #maya #modeling #blendercommunity #lowpoly #drendering #artwork #artist #vray #cg #substancepainter #sketchup #photoshop #characterdesign #designer #autodesk #solidworks #digital #autocad #dprints #dmodelling #dsculpting #blenderrender #dmax #engineering #ender #dvisualization #conceptart #sculpture #b #interior #model #illustration #graphicdesign #blenderart

Why do you need to think about external 3d visualization services? Let's dive into a rough estimation. The cost of maintaining an in-house 3D artist can vary depending on several factors, including the artist's location, experience, and the specific software and resources needed. Here’s a general breakdown of the estimated monthly expenses: Salary The artist's monthly salary can range from $3,000 to $8,000, depending on experience and expertise. Software Licenses Essential tools such as 3ds Max ($200/month) and Adobe Photoshop ($21-$55/month) are required. Additionally, licenses for specialized plugins like RailClone and Forest Pack (~$200/month combined) are crucial for efficient workflows. 3D Models and Assets Depending on project needs, acquiring 3D models can cost between $50 and $200 monthly. Hardware and Maintenance High-performance workstations, necessary for rendering and modeling, have a depreciated monthly cost of around $200-$300, with additional electricity costs estimated at $50-$100 monthly. Additional Costs Training, development, and miscellaneous expenses like cloud storage or backup services can add another $150-$300 per month. Total Estimated Monthly Cost: The total can range from ~$3,671 to ~$9,200 monthly, depending on the level of expertise and additional overheads. This estimate doesn't include costs such as health benefits, recruitment fees, or bonuses, which could further increase the total investment. Any comments and ideas or project requests are welcome! #3d #architecture #3dvisualization #exterior #interior #rendering #archviz #3ds #3dsmax #freelance #project #licence #cost #fee #commission #Architecture #3DVisualization #CostEfficiency #Outsourcing #Architects #DesignExcellence

3D visualisation is the perfect tool for reviewing and developing a design concept. Mood boards and samples are great, but you don't see how every element will look in relation to your project. A 3D visualisation of a scheme gives the designer and their client the opportunity to review a design and make any improvements. The 3D images will allow the viewer to comment on a proposal and see the shape and form of a scheme as well as how it fits into its proposed surroundings. After seeing how the completed building will look, the designer can then refine the concept and make any tweaks to the aesthetics or layout with confidence. Seeing the scheme in 3D will open the designers eyes to potential design issues that were not apparent when viewing the scheme in just two dimensions. This gives the designer and their client the tools they need to review a design, allowing them to then make informed decisions about the proposed scheme. Once the design has been revised, the construction drawings updated, the design can be reviewed again, before final approval. 3D visuals are a fantastic tool for showcasing a design and giving everyone involved clarity on the final project. If the scheme is to be updated, then several options can be created and shared, giving everyone involved the opportunity to make an informed decision. If a 3D visualisation hadn’t been produced, these design issues may not have been apparent until work had started onsite, as a result incurring delays to the project and the additional cost of rework and wasted materials. It's much quicker, easier and more cost efficient to move polygons and pixels on screen, than it is to re do work on site, that was overlooked as a 3D model of the scheme was not produced. #ArchVis
