RECAP SCEWC Barcelona 2024 🏁Long-term success and scalable Smart Cities requires good collaboration with private sector expertise, entrepreneurship and municipal utilities 🏁 With 26,000 participants and 1,100 exhibitors (+25%), including eight German federal states Smart City Expo World Congress is to me the most important platform to step out of the bubble, gain new insights and - “foresights”. I have been deeply involved in the European SCC program and Germany's €820 million MPSC initiative from the beginning. I believe the MPSC must shift from "knowledge transfer" of measures to addressing operational issues, upscaling paths, and structural post-grant integration—key themes of the European projects and my sessions and panels at the expo. 👇Key takeaways from four days SCEWC👇 🌏 Global Momentum: The strong presence of Chinese, Asian, Arab, and American players leaves no doubt that the market is evolving at a global pace—not in some European or German bubble. 🔗 Matchmaking with Entrepreneurship is key: Facilitated interfaces between cities and start-ups are crucial. Our Meet the German Cities session was a great success—but there’s still potential to scale this further. Yet this is vital for the success of the measures and role of cities as economic hubs. 🤖 Artificial Intelligence: AI was, as expected, a big topic, but its implementation is still in an earlier learning phase.
