Starting today and the following nine days, I am going to count down my favorite national campaigns for 2024. This campaign, to me, can easily be higher on my list, but since it is January 1st, what better way to kick off the year than with a powerful message? BODYARMOR Sports Nutrition partnered with WPP / Ogilvy to create an intimate portrayal of one of the most explosive athletes, Simone Biles, in one of the most explosive sports. When you expect fast-paced, quick, in-your-face, they took a much more emotionally explosive approach. Kudos to Kim Gehrig, the director of this masterpiece. When I watched this for the first time, it reminded me of all of our professional journeys...regardless of what they are. When Simone takes over the most visible stage, the Olympics, we see seconds of excellence, seconds of perfection...but we do not see roots...the family, the sacrifice, the human. As leaders, as peers, as friends, as parents, as siblings, as neighbors -- it is important to slow down, or even pause...to reflect on what makes us, what shapes us. But also to observe and understand those around us. As you enter this new year...slow down or even pause, especially if you feel like you're spinning or upside down.
