Today, the 133rd meeting of the IMO Council concludes, with topics such as multilingualism, harmonization of the rules of procedure, and member state audits on the agenda. The IMO Gender Equality Award was presented to Karin Orsel for her contribution to gender equality in the maritime sector. Denmark had nominated Amalie W K Grevsen from Maersk for her inspiring work on gender equality in the maritime industry. IALA’s transition from an NGO to a collaborating IGO with the IMO was approved, paving the way for increased cooperation in developing maritime standards. The Secretary-General expressed thanks to Andreas Nordseth, Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority, for his valuable contributions to the maritime sector.
