Norway must be a driver for more international cooperation on gender equality at sea." 🌍 🤝 In 2017, The UN General Assembly identified the 2021 to 2030 decade as the UN Decade of Ocean Science for #Sustainable Development to increase societal awareness about the oceans and be more aware of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. https://lnkd.in/dUedpcVy

Did you know that only 8% ASEAN women were benefitted financially from the fossil fuel industry? Against this backdrop, my recent work (📃 https://lnkd.in/euuFa_Vt) at the ASEAN Centre for Energy aims to shed light on the intersection between women and energy, in the height of IWD celebrations last month. As the energy transition ushers in, there is an opportunity to increase workforce inclusivity—a 2019 IRENA study showed women make up 32% of the renewable energy industry workforce, which is substantially higher than the average 22% of the global oil and gas industry. 📈 Mainstreaming women’s voices in energy management will enrich perspectives, as women are known to have the usual role of energy managers in households. I was also fortunate that during the compilation of this booklet, I was surrounded by amazing female colleagues and mentors who supplied me with fresh vantage points. UN Women in Kosovo is implementing the Gender Equality Facility (GEF) project, funded by the European Union aiming to align the EU gender equality acquis at central and municipal levels in line with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. The gender equality acquis is a body of EU laws, rules, resolutions, declarations, regulations, directives and treaties that are key requirements for the country’s EU integration. We’re helping to promote gender equality, trade and investment in Timor-Leste through a networking event for women in resources. Our department co-hosted the inaugural morning tea in Dili as part of the Timor-Leste Australia Energy Partnership. The event promotes gender equality in the energy sector and encourages women to pursue careers in resources. IDS has launched a new report on Building Solidarities: Gender Justice in a Time of Backlash. The report examines the ways gender equality is under attack globally and puts forward six guiding principles for building solidarities for gender justice as a primary tactic to counter the rising backlash. Pleased to let you know that an open access article co-authored with Salla Myyry has been published! The paper examines equality promotion through gender equality planning (GEP), which became obligatory in Finnish comprehensive schools in 2015. In the paper we argue that GEP has potential in gender equality promotion if the planning processes recognize contextual construction of gendered power relations and if equality promotion is not reduced to technical measures. 📣📣 “Feasibility Study for a #GenderBond for Mongolia” is out! The report evaluates the feasibility of launching a gender bond within the context of Mongolia's 🇲🇳 bond market development, its commitments to #SDGs, and the challenges of achieving #GenderEquality. It also outlines the steps required for the bond's issuance and identification of essential partners. The report was developed with the support of UNDP’s ‘Strengthening Systems Approach for SDGs in Mongolia’ project, in collaboration with the Financial Regulatory Commission of Mongolia and the National Committee on Gender Equality. First of its kind - Gender bond! The Icelandic government has issued a gender bond, the first of its kind in the world as no other sovereign has issued a labelled gender bonds! The bonds are issued off an Annex to Iceland's Sustainable Financing Framework. This is a very important exemplary in showcasing how to direct capital and mobilize the financial markets and public finances towards sustainable investments and promote gender equality.
