The Danish Maritime Authority looks forward to continuing the strong Nordic collaboration towards sustainable shipping.
🌟 A new #decarbonization strategy for a sustainable Nordic shipping future 🚢 The Fuel Transition Roadmap for Nordic Shipping was presented to Nordic ministers at the High-Level Conference on Green Shipping in Copenhagen. This ambitious strategy outlines the path to achieving a decarbonized, sustainable shipping sector and reinforces the Nordic region's commitment to climate leadership. The Roadmap identifies key barriers to adopting zero-emission fuels – demand and costs, fuel availability, and technology and safety – and provides a comprehensive plan to overcome them. Key highlights: 🌊 Nordic shipping aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, with the first green shipping corridor envisioned to launch by 2025. 🔧 Actionable steps broken into 20 initiatives to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission fuels and infrastructure. 🤝 A call for government action to close the cost gap and promote public-private partnerships. Ida Heimann Larsen, Deputy Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, expressed the importance of this initiative, stating: "The Nordic Council of Ministers is proud to have helped bring about this comprehensive and ambitious public-private cooperation. And we will continue to support the advancement of the 7 key building blocks of the Road Map as part of a wider, cross-sectoral focus on the green transition of our blue economy. These are important stepping stones on our path towards making the Nordic region the most sustainable in the world." 🔗 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dz5fzPYp 📸 Carsten Lundager Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen DNV DNV - Maritime Bjarne Foldager MAN Energy Solutions Sveinung Oftedal Klima- og miljødepartementet Romina Pourmokhtari Regeringskansliet, Klimat- och näringslivsdepartementet Marianne Sivertsen Næss Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries Morten Bødskov Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs John Rune Nielsen IVL Kim Skov Jensen Nordic Investment Bank Dorthe Alida Slotvik LITEHAUZ ApS Frank Stuer-Lauridsen Magnus Lander Stena Line Jens Eirik Hagen Port of Oslo Linda Sigrid Hammer Erik W Jakobsen Menon Economics Julia Hansson Chalmers University of Technology Eirill Bachmann Mehammer Rasmus Holm Bidstrup Jenny Braat Danske Maritime (Danish Maritime)

THE END OF PRINTING: As we approach the new year, we are starting to issue digital certificates for seafarers 📄 → 📱 In the near future, our seafarers and shipping companies will receive their certificates directly in digital form as soon as they are issued. This change is the result of several years of work, during which the Danish Maritime Authority has spearheaded both digitalization and the development of international regulations that make digital certificates an approved standard under the STCW Convention. This transition means that certificates will always be readily available at your fingertips on our digital platforms – they can no longer be lost and will no longer need to be physically mailed across the globe. At the same time, we are removing the requirement for photos and signatures, making the entire process smoother for seafarers, shipping companies, and the Danish Maritime Authority.
