Road transport decarbonisation | Carbon Literacy for Transport Operations

Calling all truckers. I am part of a team working on a project for the Department for Transport looking at the barriers to deploying higher bio-content fuels in trucks. Higher bio-content, or renewable fuels, relates to both biodiesel (FAME) and HVO. 2nd generation biodiesel (FAME) and its blends are: B7 as available in forecourts, B10, B20-30 and B100 all available for bulk deliveries - these fuels can require some small technical adaptions but can be very cost effective. HVO is available in limited forecourts and for bulk delivery. It is very flexible and can replace diesel up to 100% with no technical considerations although it comes at a cost premium compared to diesel. Any commercial vehicle operators are encouraged to share you views on how we could increase the volume of these fuels used to support decarbonisation efforts alongside zero tailpipe solutions. To take the survey please follow this link and feel free to share: https://lnkd.in/eWRHKUTS #netzero #trucks #hgv #logistics #alternativefuels #hvo #biodiesel #emissions #transport #haulage

Anyone at the Depart For Halting Transport bothered to contact Truck manufacturers on fuels for Trucks ??? Good old Gas network UK thought it an easy process to mix gases for consumers use before halting the project Maybe DFT should do same 🤔🤔🤔

Everone needs to know where these fuels come from and what they are made from to earn the term Bio ?

Darren Newman Also calling all POLICY MAKERS to reduce or abolish the ludicrous fossil fuel duty on HVO renewable diesel - this single step will do more good than any other technology solution to fast track CO2 reduction within the UK transport and logistics sector.

Very short sighted again by Dft. There are zero carbon alternatives out there that could be produced in large quantities using renewable electricity at all locations. Hydrogen trucks are now being developed by all truck manufacturers yes its more expensive however as technology gets better and renewables increase costs will come down.

Hydrogen produced by nuclear is probably the only way of generating green transport fuel

I advise shippers on how to electrify their freight operations.

What a great opportunity for the trucking industry to tell the government, the fuel sector and their clients the challenges of using sustainable biofuels. Darren, will the results be made public?
