Busan Port aims to be world's largest container handling port To maintain Busan Port’s reputation as a global transshipment hub and its competitiveness, there is the need to pursue strategies that connect the development of the new and existing ports. Around $10B (14T won) will be allocated to expand Busan Port, aiming to achieve the world’s largest container handling capacity by 2045. A new port will be built in Changwon and will be integrated with the existing Busan Port to create a mega port to double the current cargo handling capacity. The mega port will accommodate 66 vessels from the current 40. The berth length will be 25.5 km, up from the current 18.8 km, reported Container News.

Government announced that Busan port is planning to develop a new container terminal by 2045 but current Busan port is suffering from overcapacity due to recently opened 2 new terminal operators. How can we sure that Busan port will secure enough volume to lead Busan to build a new terminal by 2045? As Busan New Port has 7 different terminal operators, how government force them merge together? First thing is first, Government should look to optimize existing container terminals in Busan to cope with challenging Shipping alliances reshuffling.

CET Logistics has overseen the successful delivery of a large lifeboat destined for an #offshore oil project in Brazil.
