Are you in Sustainability, or do you want to be? My client, a NYSE listed commercial business is building out their Sustainability Management team all over Europe, and in the USA & Canada - and they will take people people from various relevant backgrounds! I have been asked by one of our biggest, best clients, a Fortune 500 global giant - a (€10bn t/o; 50,000+ employees, 30 countries) commercial business to centralise and build-out their #Sustainability team (nearly) from scratch. The teams of Sustainability Managers (SMs) will be made of c. 10-15 people all over the globe, covering Carbon, Social Responsibility and Reporting. The #SustainabilityManager roles can be based from any of their European hubs (in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Germany, France, Romania and others inc. the USA & Canada. There are some restrictions, but in short where you're based will be remote, and your choice!). Our client is looking a team of people who have integrity, with a flexible pragmatism that considers the needs of the organisation in developing and implementing the #SustainabilityManagement approach. We are looking for a broad mix of skills and experience, but the common traits will include non-technical attributes including: someone who is fun, intelligent, and creative. The SM role would be an ideal role for a professional with similar progressive experience, looking to get into the sustainability profession in a large company; or an established #ESG / sustainability professional, looking to move to a bigger, better company with a 'world-class' function covering #carbon, #reporting, and #CSR - most likely, you will have somewhere between 2-10 years' relevant experience. I have placed nearly dozens of people into this business over the last 10 years, and nearly all of them are still there.; and the last Managers I placed are now Senior Managers, Directors or VPs leading whole departments - so the title 'Manager' really doesn't do it justice! Feedback from the successful candidates previously has been that the short and long-term objectives of each individual are met by creating an engaged team, a work environment that promotes trust and mutual respect and maximizing team members' potential - and long may that continue. Would you be interested in hearing more? We'd love to hear from you! The salary range is very broad, but we plan for it to be market-leading in whatever location you choose, and for the experience for the individual successful candidate. As a guide: £35-90,000 plus 10% bonus; or €40-100,000 dependent on location and experience.

Stakeholder Engagement refers to the process of involving and consulting with various individuals and groups who may be affected by or have an interest in a proposed project or activity. This includes local communities, indigenous peoples, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders. The purpose of stakeholder engagement is to ensure that their concerns, perspectives, and knowledge are taken into account during the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process. Stakeholder engagement is an essential component of the EIA process as it helps to identify and address potential environmental and social impacts, as well as to enhance the overall quality and effectiveness of the assessment. It provides an opportunity for stakeholders to express their views, provide input, and contribute to the decision-making process. The engagement process typically involves various activities such as public consultations, meetings, workshops, surveys, and interviews. These activities allow stakeholders to learn about the proposed project, ask questions, express their concerns, and provide feedback. Stakeholders may also be invited to participate in the development of mitigation measures and monitoring programs.

Are you prioritising stakeholder engagement? Stakeholders are an undeniable asset in the success of a business’s sustainability transition, and the importance of stakeholder engagement is on the rise. Our recent report, "The State of Sustainability Communications," reveals that 76% of communications professionals surveyed note stakeholder engagement will gain importance for the buy-in and success of sustainability strategies in the next five years. What’s more, 72% of respondents believe that the most successful companies will be those actively listening to the voices of citizens and consumers. But with only 42% of communications professionals surveyed planning to prioritise stakeholder collaboration, there is a significant opportunity to lead the way through enhanced and strategic stakeholder engagement. The role of stakeholder engagement is especially interesting in light of the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) framework being published and coming into effect. As #TPT places a strong emphasis on interacting with external entities and disclosing impacts on stakeholders, the importance of effective stakeholder engagement is expected to grow even more.
