Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group.     We’ve all heard the saying “two heads are better than one.” On a construction site, one of the many ways we can smartly apply this concept is by having spotters help drivers during the operation of heavy equipment and large vehicles. When done correctly, a spotter can save lives and prevent injuries by acting as a second set of eyes and ears, providing important information about the vehicle’s immediate surroundings to the driver when they’re backing up a vehicle or maneuvering it through a crowded space. Keep in mind: Proper preparation, good communication, correct positioning, high-visibility clothing, and focus are all essential elements for successful spotting.
